http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/2259101/2While it looks nicely done & sounds good no doubt, Dynamat is heavy. I'm guessing he/she added over 500 lbs. Performance will take too big of a hit for me.

i agree. i have an over the top install like that in my 300c and i won't do it again when i get an srt. i could feel the difference in acceleration and braking before and after.

Pretty nice indeed. There are definitely 2 kinds of folks that have picked up, or will pick up an SRT. Those that are totally into the performance, and those that wanted a limited edition vehicle-- and sure, some both. My SRT will never see a day at a track, and will never be used for street racing. I'm more into the limited production aspect, and the 'wow'- factor of such a menacing SUV. I'm one of those kinda fellas that knowing I have the power if I need it, strokes my ego just the way I need it. While adding a few hundred pounds (and I think your guess of 500 or so may even be on the low side) is suicide for the permance junkies, it isn't a big deal to a guy like me.

No knocking the performance folks at all either. I think that level of enthusiast is awesome..... I just think that is needs to be cleared up that not all of us GCSRT owners are racers worried about weight :)

Yes, we all have different tastes and reasons for owning vehicles like these. I say as long as you're making the payments modify it anyway you want and more power to you. For me, as much as I like listening to a great stereo system, the best music of all comes out of the tail pipes between 4K and 6K rpms. :D

I agree, we will all find our balance between performance, aesthetics, comfort, accessories and individuality. This vehicle is difficult because it is such a well put together package. Usually it is easy to upgrade your ride, but when the factory does something this well you have to do a lot of research before changing anything.

My current issue for example:
I have always changed the factory wheels on all my rides, no exceptions. I think that 22's with a slightly taller tire (+ 1 1/2") would look *****in on this ride (black centers, maybe). The problem is that the stock wheels look great. They are a lightweight forged 20" staggered setup. I have always liked the hotrod look of staggered wheels. So far I cannot find wheels that I like better than the stockers, Then there is the performance hit. Even if I find a set of the exact same weight as the stock 20's, 22's will put the weight farther away from the center of the wheel causing a performance hit. I wish someone would do some dyno testing to see how big the loss is.
Another identical black GC SRT8 has not pulled beside me at a stop yet. When that happens the urge to individualize may overwelm me.

I say go for it, do it your way, then post a lot of pictures. This would be a boring forum if all our rides were identical.
