: Run-In(s),YES PLURAL,w/ Po-Po's!!
SRT830 10-23-2008, 08:39 AM ...Over the weekend i was driving dow to the Jersey shore to close up the Aunt's house for the winter. Was enjoying the amazing weather and just cruising. Got behind a pack that just wasnt' moving and jeep was heating up fast, so i decided to punch it and go to right lane to pass. I knew cops sit on this on ramp, but said " what the hell, prolly won't be here on a sunday and need to get her to run cooler". i was wrong! I went past the on ramp and was hitting my brakes b/c of my thoughts. I had pulled over about 1/4 mile down the road to check things over and thats when I hear over the P/A system, "Son dont' even try it, get back into the car!" I could not believe that my thoughts had come true!!! I got clocked doing 88 in a 65 and thats was when i was on my brakes! (23 mph over is 4 pts i believe!!) Long story short, my father is a retired/disabled police officer and i have a PBA shield and card i carry with me. I got off with just a warning, but surely thought i was done for!!
Now as if thats not bad enough. Yesterday i was home sick from work and was runnng out to the g/f's. These guys were checking out the jeep as i was driving by, so i hit the gas to give them a lil treat. BIG MISTAKE! Before i knew it, i was going 80 and thought to myself.. i am golden as long as there is no cop on THE ONLY STREET that meets up w/ this road. SURE ENOUGH!!!! I went past him doing 75 and the speed limit is 35!!!! (Automatic loss of license!!) AGAIN... pulled out the car and pointed to the PBA shield. I did pull over right away and he thanked me for that, so he was easy on me... just took my PBA card from me and on my way i went!!!
I SURELY HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON (I HOPE!!!!)!! Talk about getting away!!!! Just thought i'd share my close calls!!! NEVVVEEERR EEEVVEERR been pulled over for speeding in my entire life before and i have been driving for 9 yrs and i dont' drive slow at all!!! WELL LEAST I NEVER DID BEFORE!! LOL!!
SRT8 4 J 10-23-2008, 08:43 AM Go buy a lottery ticket cuz you are one lucky SOB :) Glad everything worked out!
FLACO 10-23-2008, 08:51 AM Damn dude, they hook you up and you refer to them as the po po's. ;)
Matt McKenzie 10-23-2008, 08:51 AM Damn dude.....I wouldn't try my luck anymore!
grocery gtr 10-23-2008, 09:21 AM What The Hell Is A Pba Card???
BlackJeepSRT 10-23-2008, 09:25 AM PBA stands for the Police Benevolent Association. You donate some money and get a card. I don't know if things have changed though. I think its only used by captain's or something.
SRT830 10-23-2008, 09:32 AM It was def my "get out of jail" card! I dont' believe you just get them, without knowing someome with a direct connection to the a Police Dept, even if you donate, but i could be wrong. Even if that is the case, the actual sheild in the window is ONLY for Police officers, so i count my saving graces regardless!!! I am NOT pushin my luck at all anymore!!! Love my license and my GC to much to be stupid/ immature with it!!
QBNKID 10-23-2008, 09:38 AM I got stopped 3 times in half an hour one morning on my commute to work, by three different towns I had to go through. I was driving normal each time I got stopped, they came very cautiously towards my jeep and asked me for my documents and each time I asked why I got stopped and every time I was given the same response pretty much... "don't ask". Handed me the documents back no tickets.
I guess they were in the look out for a similar jeep.
And it wasn't on the SRT8 it was on my last black '05 HEMI.

See in this type of situation I would have gotten in trouble. I would have said what the fawk do you mean dont ask? I want to know why the fawk you pulled me over. Damn bro you have a cool temperment with things.
BlackJeepSRT 10-23-2008, 09:40 AM I know many years back like 10-15 years ago you'd get it through a donation. But I know now it's signed by the captain on the back so it's more privileged.
FLACO 10-23-2008, 09:58 AM The PBA is similair to the Fraternal Order Of Police. The cards are "courtesy" cards. To break it all the way down...the cards don't mean anything if you want to be a d-bag cop. They are usually given out to family and close friends, so in the event they come in contact with "the law", and have a "courtesy card", then "the law" may decide to extend "professional courtesy". :)

Similar situation when I had my first car (88 station wagon).....the police in my town pulled me over because there was a report of a similar car with kids in it going around breaking mail boxes...had me sitting there for 20 min on the main strip of my town...then asked him why I am being held and they said were trying to get the person who called the situation in to come down and id your car...at this point I said do you have any proof it was me?..said no, then I said may I have my license back please...I need to get home and they gave it back to me and I drove home...effin po pos
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 10-23-2008, 11:37 AM lucky bastage!, i would still be behind bars looking to bond out. lol when i get pulled over nowadays it's by a company of squad cars, always 2 if not three and they always want to punk me, however i did get lucky the last time i was pulled over....was going 65 in a 55 and and was keeping good even though i knew there was a nice long stretch ahead....after looking around a bit i changed my mind and pinned the pedal to the floor (had also just made some tune adjustments and wanted to see how it ran) got it up to 115 and saw a county sherrif patrol car at the last divide just hanging out...hit the brakes down to 75 as i passed, sure enuf he came up behind me eventually...i was thinkin, damn, this is it...officer walks up and says "hey man, what's up...it's me..." i was like WTF? looked closer and it was one of my Gym buds. lol he was like "how ya doin?" i was like"good till i saw you. lol needless to say he let me go, sayin have a nice day. ;) saw him later at the gym and he was admiring the ride talking about how he would have been goin much faster if it was him. lol also went on to say he hates giving tickets, asked him where he patrols and now i am good. ;)
Get$$$Man 10-23-2008, 11:37 AM ABUSE OF A PBA CARD you dont deserve any sympathy from them!!!
Get$$$Man 10-23-2008, 11:40 AM Me nor any of my friends ages 18-23 get any courtesy from the police ever. I rarely get the oppertunity to speed (LOL) because it is almost like martial law in my town if your a teenager (I'm almost 21). Cops get a kick outta ticketing us and knowing our parents will pay the fine. I have yet to meet a cop that 1.) gave me a break 2.) acted professionally and NORMAL without being complete Dbags
FriscoHemi 10-23-2008, 11:45 AM invest in a radar detector for an early christmas present maybe bro! whew!

If I would have said that, I bet you I would have gotten out of there with a ticket(s). Hey they were doing their job, they check my paperwork and let me go no tickets, so I don't care if they told me the reason or not. I had nothing to worry about when they stopped me so why would I give them an attitude. Not all cops are DBs, some of them are doing a heck of a good job doing their work.
Joey you're still pretty young bro and as a friend I tell you to treat them with courtesy even if you don't always hear what you like. If you don't do anything wrong you got nothing to worry (that was my case) let them ask whatever they want as long as they don't brake the law themselves, or if they don't want to answer your question they might have their own reason. All I can tell you is that the times I've been stopped I treat them with courtesy and I get the same back.
Stay out of trouble Joey!

I was going to say that, but I reserved judgment.

I'm with you on that. I was ticketed so much my license was suspended. Sucks when you don't even know.

I said it before, I'll say repeat: Radar Detectors are a must!
Get$$$Man 10-23-2008, 02:44 PM My father had a run in with a bad officer in my town which made him realize how they act. They were closing a road off around 100 feet to my neighborhood for street work. The construction trucks had not got on the street yet and the road was clear with just an officer closing it down.
My dad tried to go through and the officer denied him, nastily saying the road was closed even though there was a completely clear path. My dad then asked why do you have to act like this. The officer responded if you have a problem take it up with the mayor. He got outta the car called the mayors office and got on the phone with the police chief.
After that incident he realized all the stories my friends and I tell him and that the cops at least in my town have no courtesy for people and act irrationally.
So far in my 21 years I've had mostly bad experiences with cops. I wait for the time when they will actually come to my need.
RANnt ahahaha
