I am curious if anyone has bought a DCX "maximum care" warranty for their GC SRT8. If you have, I'd be interested if you would share what you paid.

I have not pulled the trigger yet but here are the prices for Maximum Care that I received for the SRT8 GC with a $100 ded:
5y/70K=1690, 5y/85K=2220, 5y/100K=2790, 7y/70K=2090, 7y/85K=2780, 7y/100k=3305.

I purchased it when I took delivery of my truck. I took the 7/70k for $1800. That's what is listed on my invoice.

I got the 8/85 Max Care warranty for $1800.00.

These prices look pretty good.

I went with the 7y/100k, but I definitely did not pay $3,305.

The prices I received and posted earlier came in the mail after purchase. I think it also depends on geography.

When i ordered mine, i got the Max 7yr/85k for $2500 and the wheel protection for another 85 bucks. i'm thinking when the time comes i can talk them down on the final out the door price, with $23 grand in a bank check in hand.

SMART decision. Buying an extended warranty at the time of a new car purchase is a huge waste of money. You are paying in advance for something that you will not even use for several years. Throwing it into the payments is even worse as you are paying years of finance charges. You may end up selling your vehicle in a few years and never end up using the warranty. WAIT for two or three years at which time you will have a better idea of how reliable your vehicle has been. Then you can decide whether or not to purchase the warranty. It will cost a little more but overall you will be money ahead.

When going into the finance office to complete a new car purchase the smartest buyers will NEVER buy a single add-on. I turn down each and every single item and tell the finance officer not to waste my time or his regardless of "how good of a deal" it supposedly is. I don't ever buy the extended warranty, never fall for the paint or fabric protection scams, never get duped with the window etching rip-off, etc., etc., etc.. Just say "No, no, no, no, no" and mean it!!!

My dealer nailed me with the warranty since they were very aggressive. I then came to my senses and cancelled it. You are entitled a 100 % refund minus a minimal 50.00 fee. The manager thought I was insanen for doing so but thats his job. I got my check for 2400 bucks back.

The basic coverage is not nearly as comprehensive as the add on packages. Basic coverage only applies to about 400+ mechanical parts. Add on packages cover up to 5000+.

With the technology on these vehicles (nav, DVD, driveline, etc) I believe it's an absolute necessity, it's just buying it at the right price.

Plus, you get a rental car if there are overnight repairs.

If you sell or total the car before the warranty is up, upon request, they will send you a refund for the unused balance.

I went to a local dealer yesterday and got a 7yr/100K Maxcare warranty for $2,250. That worked out okay.

I got a 5/70 Max Care for I believe around $1600. Car companies are in the business to make money, and I agree warranties are a waste of money for most car buyers. But, if your car is High-performance and/or high tech...e.g. DVD, NAV, etc....I'd say your odds of not using it go down significantly. What will your first word or thought be when the NAV radio or DVD player goes out? I bet for most it will be "Should have bought that warranty". I had a 1998 Firebird w/ GM's warranty, and before it expired I had over $13,000 in work done to the car (New Engine, New and rebuild of Tranny, A/C). Things happen to HIPO cars and it would suck getting stuck with the bill.

Great move. Buying an extended warranty just before your 3/36 expires is a GOOD idea. Buying it before that is a DUMB idea.

got the 7/100 also over 3k if memory serves

I had the max care 7/70

it still hits me with a deductible for using if I were to keep it.


I get a rental car right now for every repair.

I am not saying its a bad idea, but Ill probably get it near the end of my warranty.

I bought the 7/70 because of all the computers involved, also it covers about all wear out items. It is a resale value as it is transferrable to the new owner. Expensive but worth it in my book. Gene
