There's a part in there where executives agree they are close. I think that by Christmas we can see CGMC become a reality. They mentioned keeping Jeep and the Minivans but that is it. All other cars I think are TOAST.

RIP GCSRT8. 2006-2009

For all those that hung on and kept theirs or are getting 09's, good on you. All others, better snatch up the remaining ones out there or forever get beat in your Trailblazer SS's!

Im sure chevy will keep the jeep cherokee around as it really the only car chrysler has ever made (except the wrangler) that has consistanly sold well. The fact is either chevy buys them or it no mor chrysler for anyone.... hell chevy stopped producing the TB may this be a sign that they will replace it with the cherokee? And you know they will keep the Hemi as it the only decent motor (and sales pitch) chrysler has.

I think it's more a matter of Cerberus wanting GMAC & not wanting to be in the auto industry anymore. IIRC GM & Ford are losing more $ on a daily basis than Chrysler. & most Chrysler engines are decent, none w/the marketing power that the HEMI has though. The only complaint in the last 10yrs I've heard is w/the 2.7L.

I still think that they (GM) would axe the Hemi. Why carry 2 performance lines? The economy sucks, the market for go fast cars are shrinking. I just can't see it. The Hemi will be shelved. GM would give preference to their own engineers and sadly lay off Chryslers. That sad as it is, is business.

Betting the SRT program will be axed. I am hoping not, but I am not holding my breath either.

I doubt the SRT division will be axed...theyll keep the Viper around, and the Charger/Challenger platform...doubt theyll keep the Jeep....and as far as keeping the Jeep line...that would be a sin to stop producing the Wrangler...and the Grand Cherokee is the best selling SUV in the NE.

Don't count out a Chrysler deal with Renault/Nissan just yet. Beginning in 2010, Chrysler (Dodge) has a contract to produce the Nissan Titan truck, and Nissan is providing Chrysler a small car next year. The Nissan deal really makes more sense than GM, but who the hell knows?

As a lifelong Mopar guy, I would REALLY hate to see the company go the way of AMC, Oldsmobile, etc. That would be a damn shame.

All the press releases so far has every one wanting Jeep, not dissolving them. The Jeep name is known world wide.

I know, that's what i meant. I can't afford one of those 63's new though. I'd consider a GT500, but I want auto. :(

whats funny is that everyone really wants chrysler JUST FOR JEEP, not anything else. But there is no way in hell cerebrus will sell Jeep alone as they are not that stupid. But this is my prediction if the buy goes through. Viper will survive with its v10. Expect the jeep srt to either get the viper motor or even the new lsx series motor. The HEMI will DIE. Gm has no reason for it when they have the LSX series. The only motor that has a chance of sticking over is the viper v10. The hemi is toast, it is too new, too weak ( yes the lsx are stronger ) and GM wont bother screwing around with chryslers nazi pcm codes. Should be interesting to say the least.
