Now glad I didn't wait to buy. Wonder what the "evidence" is?

...whoa, that almost sounds like they're going to drop the leftover viper motors in specially produced srt vehicles. That would cover the jeeps bump to 500hp for sure and make it super mod worth as the viper motor is decently stout. They would have to make some upgrades to the drivetrain though and i'm sure the pcm would be locked down super tight but...hmmmm....

Maybe it has something to do with the CAFE laws.

Probably $10k-$15k more. But isn't that what the Land Rover, Porsche, and Mercedes have theirs for?

^ especially since there are sooooo many proven mods for the viper motor....now if they would put in the 6spd tremac also from the viper than i'd sell a kidney for that beast :D....3000rpm clutch drops would slaughter the GTR

$hit I'd give my left nut (maybe both) for a GC with the Viper powertrain (incl. 6-speed). Damn I'm getting lightheaded just thinking about it

Could you imagine that motor twin turbo'd in a jeep? Wonder what the 1/4 mile times would be..

I dont see how they could shoehorn the V10 into the Jeep, the Hemi barely has enough room to put headers in as it is... The 8.3L V-10 would be even harder.

I said it somewhere here a long time ago. They should do a Jeep SRT-10.

Hennessey had a durango program for that a long time ago but none were ever delivered from what I heard

I would kill for a Viper powered Jeep

I agree with you but they have managed to squeeze viper motors into wranglers....

A viper-powered SUV would put the Jeep a step-above the Cayenne Turbo-S, and ML63AMG in terms of straightline performance. With the proper coil-over suspension, wheel/tire, and lowering springs, it would annhialate them in the twisties as well, as the Jeep weighs in 1000lbs less than then other two.

Even though the Vipers have been built to handle in excess of 1500 horsepower, without SERIOUS mods avalable for tuning, transmission, tcase, and differentials, that Viper Motor would never live up to its potential. Still though, a 600hp stock Jeep would be off the chain.

There will never be a production V10 GCSRT. NO WAY. I just don't see any way that happening. Shoehorning it one for a once off SEMA vehicle or something is one thing, but productionizing ang warranting is a whole 'nother story.

Sadly, if GM buys Chrysler, this program is/will be DEAD. GM wants the cash and cut cash outlays. Yes, the GCSRT8 sold and most likely made money, but things are different now. Everyone wants fuel efficiency NOT brute HP.

very cool, way to come through resume. i wonder what some of the other changes will be, how the electronic rear diff is gonna function, and what difference the air-ride will make. will the 6.4 w/ mds surpass the regular 6.1 in terms of gas mileage? from what i remember reading about mds it's only active when running in cruise between 40 and 60mph, which probably isn't something most of us ever do..

edit: oh yeah, and what about the body style?

I was told 6.4 MDS will have better mileage than current 6.1, but no idea how much better. The air suspension will be adjustable. No idea on styling, have not seen any pictures, the Commander style 2-row sunroof will be offered as an option.

This is when I may need to get back in, although, by late 2010, when these things hit the market, oil will most certainly be back in the $100 - $150/barrel range.

the adjustable suspension is gonna be a really great feature to have. did you hear anything about the power output of the new engine? what about the transfer case, is it staying the same?
