As I pulled around the water box for my 2nd run last night, I got around the water box and hit it and chirped the tires getting off the water. When I let off I feel this nasty grinding whirring sound and all I'm thinking is I didn't hit 20mph and let the transfer case "set" or whatever. So I stage first and say F it and pop it in N real quick, turn on TC, then put it in D, pop back into 1, and turn off TC again and left the line. Sound went away and it ran the 12. Anyone know what the hell that was? Scared the chit outta me and I figured if it was broke already, why not finish the job on the track? To all the tranny guys.... is it really important to try and hit the 20mph before we launch? It's about impossible to do there. Any thoughts.......?

it did that to me also when i hit 20 mph but it never happened again but i also never pulled the fuse out since

It wasnt the stability control kicking in was it ? I know when driving fast down dirt roads and the a$$ end gets loose that is kinda the sound I hear as rear brakes are applied by the stability control.

I think you guys are making too much of a big deal about this 20mph tranny check. I usually cut my engine while in line and never get over 5mph before I run. When I nail it from a stop I never feel that self check clunk. Just take your panties off and nail the SOB and quit worrying-LOL If you got around the water box why you trying to be all Ashley Force before your stage-HEHEHEHEHE

What is the point of hitting 20 MPH?....Im unclear of why you would have to do this- when I was at the track I just crept up to the line, no flooring it, t/c off, autostick first, preload and go!

Yeah the track prep must suck. I pull 1.6 60s on nitrous with the fuse pulled.
