I have this minor but annoying 3 degree or so list in my steering wheel to the right. Truck tracks fine on the road. Is there anyway to adjust steering wheel without specialty tools or an alignment?

Anytime...I had to have this done to mine...If it bothers you to much take it to Sears and have them do the alignment...They did mine for like 79 bucks and gave me a 6,000 mile warranty with it. So if it goes out of spec within the 6k miles they will fix it again for free...Not a bad deal.

If it is too far out, you'll get a code b/c of steering wheel angle being off from steering wheel direction. It will light up BAS ESP and Mr. Squiggly.

What directions do you have for me?

i am interesting in knowing your method? mine is slightly off and if it is that easy and also a good way to do it i might as well...

very very easy. Get your truck up on rhino ramps or some kind of ramps. Get yourself a set of vice grips and a pair of pliers. You will need both. Slide yourself under the front of the truck so that you can see the tie rods. If your wheel is off to the right when sitting in the car you need to loosen the tie rod bolts on each side of the car (each wheel) and rotate the TIE RODS BOTH DOWN about a quarter of an inch. VERY IMPORTANT: when tightening the tie rod bolts you need to use the pliers on the tie rod and the vice grips on the nut and rotate up the tie rods as you rotate the nuts to tighten them on each side. Just make sure that the tie rod moves the same direction and length as the nut so that you don't mess up your adjustment. Ok, if your steering wheel is off to the LEFT when looking at it from the drivers seat you need to rotate BOTH tie rods up about a quarter inch. Each quarter inch you rotate the tie rods up will make a big difference. Make sure you only rotate a quarter inch each time. It doesn't take much to make the steering wheel move. You can go drive the car after each quarter inch adjustment and adjust from there. The good thing is if you go too far you can always go back. One tip I have for you is to mark your nut and the tie rod with some paint (touch up paint) so that you always know where you started just in case you screw up. On my C6 and my Jeep I need to make an adjustment about every 6 months. Things just get a little out of wack over time. Oh, a GM Mechanic at his house showed me how to do this years ago. Works on every car out there. Also, rotating both the same direction does not do anything to mess up your alignment but it does straighten out your wheel. I would say 90% of tire shops do not know how to do what I just explained. :)

It is easy.

You will have to forgive me but it is early and I can't remember the exact terminology.

This is how it is done on the ZJ

If you look at the steering components there should be a bar that is attached to the pitman arm. That bar will have threads and a sleeve on it with bolts on both side. Just loosen the bolts and take a large pliers and twist it. It will lengthen or shorten the bar and adjust your steering wheel.

That may work for that car but that will confuse the SRT8 guys. There is Nothing the same from that picture as to the SRT8 Jeep.

Also, if you guys can't do this and you are close to St. Louis, just bring it by and I will have it straight guaranteed in 5 minutes for free.

I am a weak mofo! I couldn't break the nut loose on either side! Maybe I'm trying to do it wrong? Anyway, I am taking it back to the alignment shop and let a stronger, smarter person do it for me....Thanks to John (liquiddi) for giving instructions.:)

1) Get your truck up on rhino ramps or some kind of ramps.
2) Get yourself a set of vice grips and a pair of pliers. You will need both.
3) Slide yourself under the front of the truck so that you can see the tie rods.
4a) If your wheel is off to the right when sitting in the car you need to loosen the tie rod bolts on each side of the car (each wheel) and rotate the TIE RODS BOTH DOWN about a quarter of an inch.
4b) If your steering wheel is off to the LEFT when looking at it from the drivers seat you need to rotate BOTH tie rods up about a quarter inch.
5) Each quarter inch you rotate the tie rods up will make a big difference.
Also, rotating both the same direction does not do anything to mess up your alignment but it does straighten out your wheel.

Does anyone happen to have a photo of the tie rod location on the WK?
Also, do I have to drop the front skid plate?
