Anybody have a suggestion how to get the factory shift knob off. Would a heat gun work. I tried with as much force as possible to unscrew it but was unable.

DONT PULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bottom twists and drops then it pulls up with NO force needed.

Ill be dammed if I can get that collar to turn counter-clockwise. It starts to move, but then just stops after turning about 3* from center. :(

Aaron....mine only turned slightly also...don't think it went a full 90 degrees. But, with the slight amount of turning, it still unlocked and I was able to just pull it straight up and off, rocking it a bit to each side. Give it a try.
