Been driving it all day and during the late afternoon I parked outside my sons Lacrosse game, and when I can out she would not start.

Turns over a bit of a sputter and then nothing. I tried resetting the computer, etc., etc., but no luck. Flatbed came (2 hours later) took it away but had to bring it to my house as no dealers were open on Saturday @ 7pm.

So now it sits waiting to be towed to a dealer on Monday. Now it just turns over, no sputter, NOTHING!

Any ideas?

P.S. It's first flatbed ride at 2100 miles! Not very promising.

This is really just a shot in the dark, but the same exact thing you're describing happened to me on my 2000 Grand Cherokee. The solution was incredibly simple. It turns out that that my alarm simply needed to be reset and as a result the ignition was being killed every time I tried to start the car. Try cycling through your alarm with your key fob. On/off, once or twice.

I hope this is all it is. Good luck!

Oh don't worry. If this is any indicator of what this truck will be like, it will be long gone before I need any extended warranty.

Might sound a bit silly but does it have gas? My friend’s ’02 GC had a faulty gas gauge, it showed ¼ tank when it was empty.

This happened to him twice! A few months after the dealer installed a new gauge, he was stranded again. The new gauge was faulty as well. That’s when I swore never to buy a Chrysler product! Then they go and make this SRT beast…..:)

MRI, just curious what was wrong with your ’06 M5 (I used to have e39 myself)?

It's probably not this, but try all your keys to start it. I've know people have had issues w/the security system & programmed keys. You said you reset the computer, if you didn't disconnecting the battery for 15mins you could try that. I just had a wierd thing happen to mine, I power washed it then filled it up w/gas very very full, it then(using aftermarket remote start) would fired but immediatly stall then fire...etc until I got in & sarted it w/the key & burnt some gas off it started fine w/the remote starter after I draove a bit. Maybe overfilling has some effect?

As per the guage I have 1/4 of a tank. However, that is he first thing I thought of since it sounds like it is not getting fuel. I am going to fill up my fuel can later today and see if anything happens. Thanks for your help.

On the BMW side, I still have my E39 M5 (thank god!) and I think it is the most perfect car ever made. The E60 could not hold a candle to it (SMG - sucks, I-Drive - sucks, 15 gal fuel tank on a car that gets 10.5mpg avg - SUCKS, plethora of warning lights over and over again - sucks, no low end torque - sucks)

Sure it was faster, if you want to drive @ 6,000rpm+ all day long. In my E39 to make a pass in 5th or 6th just roll on the gas and she goes. In the E60 you have to drop 2 gears everytime. Overall not a great everyday car.

Thanks, I disconnected for a few minutes but not 15+. I will do that today also.

LOL!!! I hear you. IT IS a race car that should be driven on the race track with 6K+ RPM at all times, not a city car. As much as I hate to say it, e55/e63 is a better choice for an everyday "supercar", if you want an automatic tranny. I'm glad you where smart enough to keep the icon (e39), I sure miss mine....

Good luck with GC, let us know what the proverbial “dillio” ends up being…

Well, I tried the broken fuel gauge theory (put 5 gal of fuel in) and resetting the computer again (for over 15 minutes) with no luck.

I'm out of ideas, guess I will have to let the dealer figue it out.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'll let you know what they find.

Great News! Towed into the closest dealer to me who of course asked "Did You Buy it Here". When I responded NO he was nice enough to say they will get to it "maybe after the holidays in a few weeks"

This could be the shortest ownership of any vehicle I have ever had.

You may want to call your dealer & request they come get it asap, or call DCX's customer hotline(I'd tell them what the other dealer said). Don't give up yet.

well, you should at least be good for the loaner car of your choice, but I would much rather be driving my new car.

Yeah, deal with your dealer if you can, you can pull a lot more weight with the "I bought it here, now its your problem". Other dealers really dont care that much when you didnt buy the car there. Sad, but true, even with my wife's Mercedes

Call and ***** all you want DCX customer service is for lack of a better word NON EXISTANT. After you buy the car the could care less about you. And I know, I have already lemoned 1 WK and had a few issues with my SRT8 which the dealer was clueless, so I fixed it myself. I *****ed and complained to DCX and you know what they did? Nothing, Nip, Nada. There as useless as the dealerships.

Well I got it back today.

For some reason the dealer claimed it started "all of a sudden" yesterday before they put the new fuel pump in. They then tried to weasel out of putting it in and I demanded they do so. Then they said I must have put diesel fuel in the truck. I don't know where that came from as I apparently am too stupid to know the difference.

So only after using some business connections I have with DC did anything get done at all anyway. When I went to pick it up they were totally rude and could not care less about my business or anyone elses. They just seemed pissed that they had to do anything at all.

Are all DC dealers like this? I sure hope not because if so this will be the last DC (except Mercedes & my Police Package cars) vehicle I ever buy.

Wow, that sucks.....Mine went through a faze where you would park it for a day and I would come out to a dead battery. Then I would jump it and it would be fine for awhile. Did it about 3 times, and it would never do it for the dealer. Now its been like 3 months since it has happened.

MRI, did the dealer tell you what he did to get the rest of the Diesel fuel out of the system? What I don't get is what DA F@&K are these dealers thinking? Any warranty repair work is reimbursed by the manufacturer. So why bit*h and resist? Get it done, get paid AND have a happy customer. Why piss of the ONLY customers who LOVE the products they make a living of off?! It’s not like the guy who bought a run of the mill Grand Cherokee is going to be in LOVE with his truck. He probably bought it because it was cheaper than the next bland ride. And I’m sure he’ll be kicking himself through the entire ownership experience. Next time he’ll bite the bullet, pay a bit more and get a Pathfinder (or whatever). I also can’t see this guy, driving a regular Grand Cherokee, gushing over with enthusiasm for the truck, to a total stranger he meets at a gas station.

Apparently you have to be Japanese or European to understand the concept of good (FREE) publicity and customer service! If it wasn’t for the performance of our GCs I don’t think Chrysler would ever see any of us.

They're all A-HOLES!

My dealer is great, they aren't perfect. I found a few issues w/mine like the glass in my pass front door has a minor flaw, no complaining a new window was ordered. There are all types of people/dealers good & bad, you just got to get the right one. It has nothing to do w/the brand or country, it's the people. A Pathfidler over a GC, not even when hell freezes over.

Does chrysler call you guy's after every service visit for you to rate them? Whenever I take the car in, the service guy's are open to ask if you are happy before you leave so that you will rate them 5's.

BMW service is awesome too. I used to get loaner cars (always another BMW) just for oil change services. They washed the car with every visit regardless of what they were doing. Great follow up and customer service 100% of the time. I miss it.

I received a survey in the mail from DCX yesterday to rate the service visit I recently had. Since I just brought it in this week for an oil change, the mailing must be related to the transmission leak I had last month. However, I will be rating this week's visit. Not sure if you saw my other posts, but the dealer put 1 too many quarts of oil in my rig.

But at least you'll know that you'll be treated with respect when you bring it in for service. That could be worth the trade.

I agree, it definitely won't have the power, and I LOVE this truck but the way I have been treated so far, along with sub-par quality control (on top of the above, I still have a water leak, numerous rattles, etc.) concerns me. I drive a lot of miles and cannot risk being left out in the cold (literally).

However, I will give it another chance, and find another dealer, before I give up.

The thing I love about this truck is it reminds me of my 1995 Ford F150 Lightning, which was my second favorite vehicle of all time.

Wow! That is completely unacceptable.

If the dealer does not know the right specs and measurements who is supposed to? You should make sure they actually use the proper Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil as well. If they could not get the amount right they probably just dumped regular oil in as well.

good reading guys as I work in service for BMW Darien,CT

I am also the Dinan rep for them as well - the 4.8 still won't match our SRT8 with Dinan upgrades
They used to make a supercharger kit for the 4.4 but I think Steve stopped production of it, too many buy-backs
