The moment I drove my SRT8 off the lot the brakes were annoyingly squeaky and at 1000 miles the navigation/stereo went out. I took the SRT8 to the dealership and after 9 hrs they finally pulled it into the bay, minutes later they come out and tell me the brake squeak and the nav does not work. They said we will have to order the nav unit and didn't have time to work on the brakes but reminded they do squeak. They also said it would take 3 day to get the nav unit. After 4 day I called and asked for the status, they said it was not at the local depot and would take 5 more days to get it to Houston.

Not being happy with taking 9 business day to get a part, I asked the service manager who do I need to speak with to get a faster resolution, 9 business days is BS. His answer was, call Chrysler customer service and he will check with the parts guy and call me back. After 4 hours of waiting, I called the dealership back and ask for a status, and was told the nav unit and the computers for the cars come from Star parts which is highly regulated and we are not sure when the unit will be in.

I did call customer service but of course they have bankers hours, so I had to contact them via email.

Are the the navigation units a controlled substance? any advice other then go to a different dealership, that is a no brainer?

Not to defend the stupidity and lies that the dealership told you, but because your vehicle is under warranty we do an exchange order for radios/nav units, and yes the exchange radio is controlled by STAR parts. I have seen techs sitting on hold for hours waiting to talk to them to get a part released. Also to make matters worse for you is there is currently a shortage of nav cores that chrysler refurbishes so I can believe that it my take some time to get one. They should have told you the truth, or atleast told you that they would have to get back with you with an accurate eta.

Have you tried talking to the owner of the dealership?

Thanks for the info:
Are you saying they are planning on putting a refurbished unit in my SRT8? That is not acceptable. MY GC had less the 1k mile when it broke, I expect it to be new unit, for all I care they pull one off the assembly line. I bought a new car not a refurbished....

My nav failed also and I got a refurbished one also, you have NO say in this matter. Star wll NOT give your dealer a new one. There pricks to say the least.

I had my front differential replaced at 200 miles due to interior noise and vibration in the differential, they ripped that off the assembly line ASAP, my dealer got SRT8 engineers involved and the area manager involved took 4 days total, BUT they did not have to deal with STAR. They went right to the engineers, the dealership wanted to replace the just the clips that were inside and the engineers said not a chance we will send you a brand new differential. After that my dealer went back to being useless.

I must say I have a similar experience with a couple of dealerships here in Calgary. I love the jeep, hate the service. My personal opinion is that they should shop Toyota or Lexus and experience what Customer Service is all about. Out of 3 of 4 appointments I have made, I got the "we have no record of you having the appointment today" comment when I made each appointment 1 week in advance and trust me it was not me going on the wrong day! Let's just say my best visit so far has been for an OIL change only and it they f*&$%d that up I would not have been surprised. It definitely made me realize why I have not bought Chrystler before. To buy a great product is one thing, to service the Great product you bought from Chrystler is the challenge that they are facing, in my opinion.

The service has been nice enough, but I have only had the the check engine light (CEL) off for about 200 miles out of 4500. I have had it in four times for this; and it is still on.

All in all though, I feel good about this vehicle. I have not had any problems with:
1) Windshield noise.
2) Slow 1-2 shifts at WOT.
3) My rotors are as smooth as a baby's but.
4) Any thing else.

Might as well get the Kooks headers as I would not know the difference.
