I had a little accident... I was pulling out of a parking lot and got a little scuff on my wheel.... Does anyone know of any good refinishing shops in Chicago? Does anyone have any experience in this department? I have never had to refinish a wheel and now my baby has a scar. Will it look like new when it's done?

I live in Chicago, and have scuffed mine as well. I had a couple guys come out and look at them, and they both said the same thing. They couldn't guarantee the sheen or polish when they were done refinishing the wheel would match the others, so I just didn't bother. Probably a good thing becuase I have rubbed them again.

There is a huge tire store on Ashland ave called Arnadas. I think they might do it there or at least point you in the right direction. Hope this helps.

I live in NW Indiana (pseudo Sout sider) and have a freind who owns a chain of exhaust shops. When I curbed the wheel on my wife's Ram he told me there was a good place in the Northwest burbs that could repair/refinish it for me. I'll call him tomorrow and post the info for you. He swears by this place and they're in Chicago so maybe it will work for you.

Thanks man! I went by a high end shop that has done some work on some of my Dad's cars (The Last Detail in Lake Bluff, IL). They said that they would send it out to a place they work with to "see" if it was fixable. they said the ywere not sure if the wheels are polished or plated. One of the two is a better senario, although it seems like a few members have had theirs repaired and they are happy. Either way, thanx a million for looking into this for me.

Cademyster-

Ok here is the info I told you I'd get. The company is called Transwheel and they're located in Addison near Glendale Heights but their shop is right here in Indiana. The lady I talked to said they have our wheel info in their system. They have to sand blast the wheel to repair and refinish it so it's possible you may lose some depth on the SRT stamped logo. Other than that she seemed pretty confident about their ability to repair the wheel. My freind told me they've sent some pretty scary stuff to them and it's always come back looking great. Here's the catch though. They will only take your wheel and they will not remove it for you. So since you don't have a spare and you have Runflat tires you're going to have to find a tire shop that has the equipment to remove the Runflat from your wheel and be willing to hang onto your jeep for about ten days. Maybe your dealership can help you out. You can reach them @ (800) 892-3733. Good luck and let me know how things turn out if you give them a try.
