: Modified Eibachs
Blown-WK 10-03-2008, 08:31 AM Finally got around to modifying my eibachs yesterday. I figured rather than going through all the work to take them out and install different springs and lose money, I would try to modify mine first. I always thought the back sat a little high with the Eibachs and after pulling the wheels off and looking at them closely I saw the bumpstops were resting on the lower perch with no space between it. No wonder why your teeth rattle when you hit a bump. I pulled the bumpstops out and cut the bottoms off up to the line before they get skinny in the middle (forgot to take a pic of this). I also wanted to the springs to be a little firmer so I cut 1/4 coil off the bottom and achieved two things.
1. lowered the back and leveled the jeep out.
2. have not bottomed it out yet and the so called "jounce" or bouncing effect after hitting a bump is drastically reduced.
They are much better than before...at least good enough to deal with:D Sorry for the blurry pic....taken with my phone at night.

Razorecko 10-03-2008, 09:06 AM wow thats slammed, i'm guessing you cut the coils off both since it looks soo droped...i'd actually worry about nailing the fender over a bump its so low.
domeztictunerz 10-03-2008, 09:19 AM You should be fine with bumps and whatnot because my srt4 was definitely that low when I had it with no problems on eibachs. The springs are so firm that on large bumps you have to worry more about damaging the spring and strut rather than the fender. I recommend avoiding those though! Looks great by the way!
Vinnysrt8 10-03-2008, 09:28 AM wow its low i like it post better pict
BlackJeepSRT 10-03-2008, 09:28 AM Got a pic of the modification? That looks lower than BWoody's Springs.
Razorecko 10-03-2008, 09:29 AM The eibachs really are super stiff springs - driving on the bwoodys the last couple of days i'd say the eibachs probally edge out the bwoody's in performance, especially high speed turning. But the eibachs are just too stiff for daily street driving, they are more suitable for track performance.
Harrison@Stage6 10-03-2008, 09:41 AM Chris...... we need to get together and take pictures of yours next to mine. I'd be curious as to how your "Mod'd" Eibachs look next to my BWoodys.... give me a shout. Playing golf today and tomorrow morning but other than that I free this weekend. But don't call me during the Fla. vs. LSU game!! GO GATORS!
Street WK 10-03-2008, 10:06 AM Looks great... but I was always advised NOT to cut springs.
HoustonSRT-8 10-03-2008, 11:35 AM Looks great... but I was always advised NOT to cut springs.
Same here as well as heating them up to compress them.
mrfreeze 10-03-2008, 01:02 PM Can you post pics of the cut bump stop and better pics of your rig..Curious how does it handle on hard launch's vs before cutting??
oman srt8 10-03-2008, 02:25 PM look nice man ....good job .....need anthor pic plz ;)
jrCobra 10-19-2008, 01:54 PM need more pics plz :D
And how's it feeling after a couple weeks?
Blown-WK 10-19-2008, 07:14 PM Its better than before but still not as good as I would like. Might have to modify the bumpstop a little more or see if the revised ones from Eibach will help.
SkyeHighSRT8 10-19-2008, 09:24 PM is your camera broken?
OneBadJeep 10-20-2008, 01:31 PM How crappy is the ride? Wow, it looks slammed, I want like now!!!
