Please don't look for this quote - its in an obscure journal that only I know about.

No brake stall guys, brake until the tree drops and gun it, if you brake stall you over shoot the converters sweet spot, and your time will suffer trust me, worst I ran was brake stalling I ran 13.2

Thanks guys, I had a great DA day to race. Either way in cold weather these trucks really are beasts to say the least, weather or no weather 12.5 is no laughing matter for an SUV. NOTE: Your results will vary depending on your altitude, humidity etc and if your racing on a 90 degree day you wont see this type of results, the heat soak is a killer on these trucks. I ran 13.00 flat on a 1600+ DA day BUT with no truck prep, 3/4 gas tank, tire pressure at street level PSI, you get the idea. Either way KOOKS Headers do work. Let the nay sayers start flaming away.

The tree at the track where the lights drop and tell you when to launch or go. No brake stall, brake until you get the green light, take your foot off the gas and stomp the gas.

I noticed a big difference between not brake stalling versus brake stalling. Although, I still see some 1/4 mile guys saying to brake stall at around 1800-2000 rpm.

Which is best?

i'm not very experianced in this but when i brake stall at around 2000rpm truck takes off more aggressively and chirpes the tires once a while, i've never chirped the tires from just punching the gas... i donno if it makes any time diff though but it feels "better/more fun"

See I experience just the opposite. We have higher octane gas here and are at sea level. Although the temps are much higher.... lately my Jeep is screaming. I really need to get to a track... I suspect I have perfect DA conditions. My wheels more than chirp when I stomp the gas.... looks and sounds just like the commercial.

Ok that good to know. ive always thought that power braking/ brake stalling would yeild better results but i guess not in this car.

When I brake stall now I can chirp all 4 tires no JOKE! You chirp and there is .2 you just lost on your time.

Inferno your times with only bolt ons are very encouraging, thanks for sharing all the info. Imagine what you could do with a tune! Provided we ever get one. I've been experimenting with the brake stalling myself (1500, 1800 and 2000) and have had far better results with just letting off the brake and nailing the gas. My best time to 60 is 4.47 with just over 4k. I swear the more I drive this thing the quicker it gets. I haven't been to the track yet so pardon my ignorance here but what is all the talk about DA's, could someone elaborate plese?

DA= Density Altitude when your in the + its bad the higher the worse it is, the more it is in the negative the better you will run. Here is a DA altitude calculator, do some reading on that site and it will help you understand a little more about DA.

http://www.modulardepot.com/density2.php

On a +1600 DA day I ran 13.00 flat 3/100ths away from 12's with NO truck prep, 3/4 gas tank, tires PSI to high etc. The same day a stock SRT8 could not get lower then 13.4, But the headers according to some dont do anything.

Another well deserved "Thank You" to all that have purchased aftermarket parts and publicly tested them for us to see; especially since you are beta testers.
I don't think there's any doubt, as has been mentioned umpteen times over the years, that until aftermarket tuning software becomes available, we'll never see the true potential of modifications such as a full exhaust, H/C, let alone a fully built motor. Nevertheless, the differences in ET/trap equate to ~30-35hp, which again without a tune, is pretty sporty. While the DCX engineers are knowledgeable in their own right, they are not the end all be all of what's possible in post warranty HP/TQ. For instance, I've never seen a long/short tube header EVER make less hp/tq than the stock manifolds. This is not to knock a decent OEM design, but the aftermarket isn't under the same constraints (most importantly noise, and emissions) when it comes to header/exhaust design. Another quality example would be when Ford Powertrain Engineers called Al Papitto (Boss 330) to congratulate him on what he's done with "their truck engine". For the record Al makes 600rwhp corrected with a steel rod, N/A 5.4 4v (333CI with a 3.57" bore), the best Ford ever did was 600HP at the flywheel.
So again, thanks to those that have taken the plunge. I can't wait to join you with a full SWorks exhaust and H/C in the next few mos.

"ATCO is known to be a down hill run from start to finish. Ask any good racer in the East. "Englishtown" might be a better all around track in your area. Also "Claude" ran faster bone stock, in the 12's. DA is the what can make some performance gains, even on a stock vehicle. In Minnesota, Brainerd Track, (northern MN) is .2s slower than Rock Falls, WI Track where I race. So tracks, DA all enter into the mix, even Dynos have a correction factor to match the test conditions. Just some additional info, to consider. LOL Gene

Have a GS Motorsports GC SRT8 with Supercharger, port and polish, headers and exhausts, ECU mod and soon getting TCM upgrade, 2 whee drive switch , and traction control switch....It is a rocket and needs to get some track time .
It dyno`d over 460HP to all 4 wheels
If it did not always hit rev limiter, I would love it more

I would not be very happy with those #, how much boost are you running?

We put down 421 AWHP with JUST heads/cam/CAI. If we were to add Headers, Exhaust, and ECU tuning like you have I would Expect at least 450-460 awhp with OUT the blower.

"myths"... created by guys that DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT DENSITY ALTITUDE DOES... PLEASE DON'T SPREAD MORE NONSENSE.. atco is a certified NHRA track.. it's 33' above sea level and inland where it usually has a decent barometer.. I've run faster at E-Town in hotter weather than Atco in the cool, difference was Baro.. you speak about "DA" in your post, yet try to minimize what effect it has? don't speak out of both sides of your mouth.. back in the day E-Town USED to prep the track like ****, now, because everyone goes to Atco the last couple of years, they are picking up their game some.. I pull some 60's, on street tires at Atco that are insane..
