: 09 a waste of time?
Red Rick 10-02-2008, 09:37 AM Here is my take on purchasing a 09'....
With very Minimal changes over the 08 model is it really worth spending the money on a new 09 when stealerships around me still have 08's on the lot.
I have waited two years now to be able to "comfortably" afford one and have put some thought into what to do...
Right now an 09 is not an option for me...I would rather buy a new 08 for less money OR wait until 2010
Waiting for 2010 seems like an even better idea because it will be somewhat special because it is the end of the model line before it gets revamped (6.4L and other goodies maybe)
And I hear that the 2010 will have some updated goodies that didn't quite make it into the 09'
So should I just hold off and wait for the 2010 or try to get a new 08? New 08's around Pittsburgh are about $40k loaded.
promo718 10-02-2008, 09:45 AM if you waited 2 years already, why not wait another year to see what's cooking w/ the 2010 models?
SkyeHighSRT8 10-02-2008, 09:50 AM you are the most patient person I've ever seen!
WBSRT 10-02-2008, 09:52 AM Keep waiting and you'll keep waiting. why wait for a 2010 when you could be enjoying an 08 now.
IMO, '06-'09 are the same, the trinkets mean nothing to me. Resume states 2011 will be the rebody, & who knows if we'll see the 6.4L. Hopefully their is a bump in hp's in the near future.
Red Rick 10-02-2008, 10:10 AM I have been patient because I wanted to wait until I knew I could afford to own, drive, and maintain it. I almost pulled the trigger a year and a half ago but decided to wait and pay off my other vehicals before I took on another payment.
06-09 are alot of the same although I would like the mygig so for me it would have to be 08 and above.
I figure around July I could place an order for a 2010, and I would hope that by april Resume would have an idea whats going on as far as upgrades go for 2010.
waiting 9 months to get a 2010 is not that bad if it is going to have some new toys on it..waiting a year and 9 months for the rebody is to long of a wait... Any thoughts on this?
Matt McKenzie 10-02-2008, 10:15 AM Find an 07 for even cheaper and buy it since it is known to be faster....if you like the 08 front end, Anthony has already proved you can change that over!!!!! Mygig, we already have people that replaced their 07 deck with Mygig......you will still spend less money overall!

I agree, pretty much the same all 4 years other than some interior changes, grill/bumper refreshes, and other "trinkets." The '09's were supposed to have a "push-to-start" proximity keyless system but it was dropped at the last minute, probably will show up in '10 or could possible be a mid-year addon for the '09's.
I doubt we'll see the 6.4L in the '10 models but there's always hope . . . but why wait another year only to be disappointed that the only thing you waited for was a pushbutton start? Or no changes at all? I'd get a new '08 now if I were you, the prices are coming down now with '09's showing up, I'm sure you can find a good deal somewhere. I contemplated as well on waiting for the '09's earlier this year, mainly because of the pushbutton start thingy . . . I'm sure glad now I didn't wait!
2011 is supposed to be the new body style but who knows for sure now with Cerebus in the mix. And of course there's always a chance that the new body style sucks :)
TonySRT8 10-02-2008, 10:25 AM Buy an '08 if you want a new one.
There is always something newer/better around the corner. If something huge comes down the road in a few years. That's why they take trade-ins. I think a lot of us are waiting for the last model year and new engine to come out to trade up. I'm looking forward to owning the last year of the great jeep SRT8 :D
IMO. I'd go w/a used '06-'08 for a much lower price compared to new. Then you may be able to afford the 2011 in ~3-5yrs, where then again you could get a great deal on used.
Red Rick 10-02-2008, 11:08 AM Just talked to a local stealership that has a new Red 08 with 12 miles on it loaded option group I and II minus the block heater asking 41k out the door, seems a little high condisering the 09's are showing up. I am going to look at it in person today, but at this point I think I am going to wait for the 2010
Is the 2010 the last model before the rebody?
YoungMedic23 10-02-2008, 11:34 AM I don't understand why everybody wants to trade up for a 6.4?
How about getting a stroker? Solves that problem minus the tuning which i hear will be very difficult to crack in the coming years
Get an 08 that ALREADY comes with the mygig and front bumper and hook it up! You have 2 years to make it faster than the 6.4 that may never veen be released cuz the cherokee Srt8's don't sell that well

According to Resume yes, but again, it's just speculation. Plans change all the time.
$41k doesn't seem bad at all for a loaded new '08, that price is well below invoice.

Good point -- I don't think anyone's cracked the PCM on the '09's yet, I'm almost certain the Diablo won't work with them, who knows when custom tunes will be available. Get the '08!!
Red Rick 10-02-2008, 01:27 PM Good point(s)
I am headed over to the dealer today after work to check out the 08 that he has...
He also informed me that he has two 09's coming in within the next two weeks, so maybe if I wait a week or so I can get an even better deal on the 08... we will see I guess
Grip Grip 10-02-2008, 02:12 PM I personally feel it's best to buy the newest Jeep you can afford. However, if I didn't already own one and was in the market, I'd buy an '07 and put the rest of the money in the bank.
08srt8Calgary 10-02-2008, 04:00 PM Jeff was saying awhile ago that the newest models were going to be a bit(h to crack the pcm. You can hold out for an 0-10, but (a) the 6.4L has not been annoounced at all, and (b) whatever is available in the 0-10 will be mod limited.
DevssrT 10-02-2008, 05:06 PM Unless you want to pay more than an 08 for factory red calipers, just get an 08 or 07 adn be done with it!

u r 1000000000% right that what i thought and that what i want to do
2BADGN 10-02-2008, 06:31 PM 09's seem a bit pricey to me.
Chris Hull@TTC 10-02-2008, 06:37 PM I leased a hemi commander in december 06 for 27 months, when I really wanted an srt8. But I had never driven one. In june I went with a friend on the drive srt and was blown away. In sept 07, I financed a new 07 when the 08's were out and got 13% financing. I obviously don't have any advise( my wife doesn't drive)stuck with an extra car and 1400 worth of payments. Did i mention I bought a house no income verification May 08. I like bills, but I COULDN'T WAIT ONE SECOND LONGER FOR MY JEEP I can't believe you have waited so long. When I'm at a restaurant today I don't wait to see If the steak should be aged another day!!

13% on the Jeep loan???????????
Chris Hull@TTC 10-02-2008, 07:10 PM My credit was to the max, I had the lease on the commander and also my 05 e250 van financed to.

That sucks junior, on the other hand it makes my 9% look good. :o
Rated///M 10-02-2008, 08:09 PM For me, the difference in price between a new 07 and a new 08 or 09 wasn't worth the little changes. I just paid 31k for my brand new loaded Steel Blue SRT8 that was listed at 54k. Dealers in California are having a real hard time moving these awesome trucks.

$31k for brand new? That's a good deal.
1BAMFR 10-02-2008, 08:19 PM Stop talking about it and go buy one, Get a deal on an 08' and start modding
liquiddi 10-02-2008, 08:24 PM I may trade up to a 09 because I have money to blow.

Thats a pretty awesome feeling...lol...jp....keep in mind guys you can no longer lease these beasts from Chrysler.
Chris Hull@TTC 10-02-2008, 08:35 PM Chrysler financial is not offering leases but dealers get leases from other lenders.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
liquiddi 10-02-2008, 08:38 PM big deal......
well the thread said "09 waste of time"? Basically, if you have the money to blow and you love the jeep, why not trade up? duh

If I were you I would keep the one you have and trade up the Vette for a Z06.

07's never listed for 54k. Nor do the 08 or 09's. Must have been dealer mark up.
Betray 10-02-2008, 09:23 PM i think car makers should postpone a min 1 year and not produce for that year and then release the new model.. to by an 09 with a complete redesign is silly.

Yup, 7k markup. Its no wonder they couldn't move it. Would have been an easy sale in 2006 though.

Very simple actually. More speed under warranty.
OneBadJeep 10-03-2008, 01:06 PM Wait for the 2010! I have a 08' I'm down with it.......The interior upgrade is the only reason I bought it. Wait till 2010 for sure.....or come buy my 08......maybe
