? Other comments were voiced at the Nats about them! A lot of questions were asked about other vendor's products, they did comment on some, they are aware of most of the aftermarket products. I use this Mopar TCM in my JGC now, it might be the AMG one? Don't know for sure but it makes the tranny awesome! My cost: zip! replaced under warranty. HTH Gene
Untouchable 12-15-2006, 09:13 AM I have an appt in a few weeks to have my bumper painted and my driver side window checked out (seems to do its own thing)
I terms of getting this TCM replaced, what exactly do I tell them since I assume they are clueless ( and they are) thanks
What is the part # for Mopar TCM?
SRTJeep 12-18-2006, 01:25 AM This part is now in "Restrictive Status". Therefore not available now, Sorry? I may be able to get more as one guy bought out his dealership, has one extra but it would have to be paid for by you. The package says "Made in Germany" so it probably is the AMG one. If I has known this all available ones would have be bought. Compared to a stock JGC this thing is awesome, bottom end torque is outstanding! I test drove a stock JGC after my install and the difference is noticeable. Gene

SRTJeep, I hope this doesn't come out sounding the wrong way, and I mean no disrespect to you, but why dangle partial tidbits of information before us and withhold the rest? Is there a reason why we can't know the part number? I’ve searched through the various SRT8 forums and websites, called 3 different dealers and made every sort of Google search I could think of, all with no success. It seems like you are the only person in the world who knows about this “super secret” TSM. My dealer’s Service Manager, who also owns a GCSRT8 swears that there is no other TSM out there, but without an actual part number it’s impossible to prove it exists, let alone enable him to order it.
Also what does "Restrictive Status" mean?

Oh, Oh, Oh!!!! You're gonna get the infamous "PM me for details" reply.
jayeepee 12-18-2006, 05:39 AM Gene (SRTJEEP) gave me the part number for the TCM flash and it is valid, but my dealership said it does not apply to my vehicle and they would not upload it to my ride. I guess the rest of us have to wait until it comes out for the GC SRT8, I think Gene said it might come out this month?

Then what vehicle DID it apply to?
Also, I thought that Gene received a whole new TCM module, not just a flash. Was the part # that you received for a flash or a module?

Also, I thought that Gene received a whole new TCM module, not just a flash. Was the part # that you received for a flash or a module? All the people that PM'd me got all the information and why the part number wasn't openly posted. No Secrets but just protecting my sources. This version does fit the JGC as 4 parts depts confirmed the application. Dealer's just play dumb or try to get out of any warranty work. The Re-Flash is also available through the internet. "Restrictive Status" means the parts dept. can't sell them or install them. I have tried to contact the SRT Engs directly but no answer yet? I have over 3000 miles since this install, over 20 Drag Strip runs, and hard use with no problems just awesome shifts now! Of course I will share any information that comes my way. Gene
tainui 12-18-2006, 11:52 AM Just when I think I'm ready to read something intelligent about our vehicles, I come to this (and the other) forum and see that the more things change the more they stay the same.

Yeah, we're sorta at a "Crossroads". He, he, he.:D

I'm confused, how will posting a part number compromise your source of information?
SRTJeep 12-18-2006, 08:45 PM I'm confused, how will posting a part number compromise your source of information? A TSB is coming out so the open post might compromise this if it differs from my sources part. Advanced notice on this TSB states it is a different part number. Also it is only for the LX Cars not the JGC SRT8 although according to my source it does apply to the JGC? Anyway, I've written to the SRT Eng Dept with my test results but haven't heard back yet. Don't worry I'll share it if they remove the RS from the part. Gene

Ok, I guess I'll have just have to wait.
Maybe in the mean time you could clear something up. Is it true that the upcoming TSB is being tested in Hanger 18 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and utilizes reverse engineered alien technology acquired from a UFO that crashed in Roswell, NM in 1947?
Because that would really explain quite a bit.

ROFL ... While I cannot confirm your suspicions, I can tell you the folks in Hangar 18 do stellar work. Fortunately, I had them install a mythical beast detector in my vehicle. I've already spotted 2 unicorns, 1 cyclops, 4 Yetis, and 1 minotaur who was roaming around my parking garage at work.

Because that would really explain quite a bit. I've been to Wright-Pat AFB, yes, hanger 18 does hold the answer. You might try the HHP one as it might be the same, price is about right, better than $699. Your choice. I'll share all the latest information as soon as the Alien gives it to me. Gene PS. I like this question!
larryc7777 12-19-2006, 12:50 PM To begin with....THERE IS NO AREA 51 in Roswell, NM. And hanger 18 does not exist. What you THINK you saw was actually a weather balloon reflecting the light from Venus.
jayeepee 12-19-2006, 01:43 PM Then that windshield howl might actually be alien mating calls?

I always thought Area 51 was in Nevada, near Nellis AFB.
GotStroke? 12-19-2006, 08:14 PM FWIW, Area 51 in NV is now deserted, the base has been moved to a desolate section of Utah where they used to test bio/chem weapons.

I assume that you're referring to the Green River Launch Complex and Michael Army Airfield at the Dougway Proving Grounds just north of Moab.
Ever since the publication of a poorly researched article written by Jim Wilson which appeared in the June, 1997 issue of Popular Mechanics, many people have come to believe incorrectly that operations have ceased or have been significantly reduced at the Groom Lake facility. This would certainly come as a shock to the more than 1,800 people who continue to commute to the facility daily. Additionally, in the time since that article was published, a new 4,625 ft. taxiway has been constructed, 2 new fuel tanks have been added, and 4 new hangers have been built. That's quite an investment for a decommissioned facility, wouldn't you say?
While I don't pretend to know what goes on at either location, one thing is certain, the place known as Area 51 is still quite active. If anyone has any doubts, just try making a visit to the "deserted" facility.

I don't think that's it, but it could be that I'm not remembering correctly...

I would agree, I definitely didn't know that. The Disco program I watched claimed that no one commuted there anymore (all flights to the base had stopped).

I guess I and the program I saw were incorrect. I'll try to keep my posts in the future about things I'm more factually aware about (like engines:) ). I do remember the narrator in the story claiming that he can now drive up to and past the old "guard line" where security guards would have interecepted him before.
HulkSmash 12-20-2006, 02:56 PM Most TV programs which discuss Area 51 tend to be focused on the more sensational aspects of what is rumored to occur there. Unfortunately, when your focus is on aliens and UFOs, facts tend to just get in the way of good TV.
