So I was in the drive-thru at Wendy's last night, an older Mustang 5.0 (early 90's) was behind me, younger guy driving. I get my chit, sqeal outta there wondering if he would play. He passes by me down the road a bit, I looked over but he didn't look interested. Came up to a light but there was one car in front of me, he was first in line. Darn, no dig race!

A ways down the road we both get onto the freeway, he's in front and slams it up the on-ramp, I was maybe 50yds behind him (not at WOT 'cause I'd have eaten his bumper), 80mph we're on the freeway he's still on it so I slam the gas to get around him.

Man I forgot how badass those 5.0L's were back in the day. I was reeling him in but not very quickly, I slipped by at about 120mph but the path I took through traffic got me stuck so he flew ahead. Got around traffic, caught up, we both gave each other the thumbs up.

He wanted to go again and slammed on the gas, however, I accidentally bumped the shifter into neutral right before he went, and if you've ever done this you know the gas pedal stops responding for like 5 or 6 seconds if you shift into neutral while cruising and shift back into D.

So he flew ahead, I'm sitting there stomping the pedal and cussing trying to make it go . . . ah well, maybe next time. He took the next turn at a dirt road and I spun a U-turn and headed home. It was good fun nonetheless!!

It's hard to reel someone in from a roll when they get a good head start. ;)

Yeah, I hate that neutral pause.

I agree, Neutral sucks for acceleration. As others have stated, it's very difficult to reel someone in after they're floored. :)

How the the heck did you "accidentally" hit it into neutral?

I'm guessing he reached down to downshift manually
