Mango 12-12-2006, 06:59 PM I was wondering, have any of you been harrassed for not putting your front plate on your vehicle? I know in the town where I used to be a police officer, I'm safe. However, I travel all over the state for work and was trying to NOT put that front plate on. It would make the front of the jeep look terrible I think.
What are your thoughts? I know where I used to work, I wouldn't bother people for it on nicer automobiles. =P
Str8Srt8 12-12-2006, 08:06 PM make something you can use that wont be obvious when the plate is off.
jlandbl 12-13-2006, 09:41 AM I keep it legal. My front plate is on. Not interested in being pulled over when my kids are in the car.
Mango 12-13-2006, 10:51 AM I suppose I'll have to put it on. I'll be sheding a tear while drilling into the bumper.
9900rpm 12-13-2006, 02:57 PM This is a long shot, and has worked for me with my Evo (it's registered in NJ). May or may not work for you. Go to DMV and ask them for the form for "my same 1". It's basically an application to have a duplication of your license plates. It was mainly used for back when NJ plates were blue, and people wanted to have the newer reflective ones, with their original numbers. Anyway, it's $10. Send a $10 check to them, make photocopies of the check, and the application. Keep all of that in the glove compartment. When you get pulled over, tell the cop your front plate was damaged, and you mailed out for a replacement of the same numbers. Show them the photocopy of your check and application. This gets me off front plate tickets, all the time.
$10 per every 3 months or so is a small price to pay to not have a front plate on the car in NJ. Over time, you will have a stack of license plates though...

LOL nice trick! I just finished installing the front plate. I cried while putting those screws into the bumper. Now it looks so funked up but at least It's "legal".
Inferno SRT8 12-13-2006, 10:12 PM Get a PBA card, times pulled over for no front plate 12. Tickets 0. Does being pulled over for lightly speeding and not having a front plate count? Then its 17 to 0 :D
OurZoo 12-14-2006, 12:59 AM PBA card? Was dat?
jayeepee 12-14-2006, 04:51 AM I had the dealership put my front plate on, the dealership even asked, "Are you sure you want us to do that". They didn't want to f*** up the front bumper either. At least it is legal :(
jlandbl 12-14-2006, 06:19 AM PBA card? Was dat?
Police Benevolent Association. Members of law enforcement usually give them to family and friends annually. I have found only a 75% success rate with them.
rokspydr 12-19-2006, 01:49 PM Hi all,
I am new here 07' slate blue
I got it from butler jeep in butler, recieved with no front plate mount. Have not installed it and thankfully have not been bothered yet.

If it was not for all my PBA cards I would be riding my tricycle. Worst I got was a no seat belt from a Nassau County PO I was pulled over for speeding if you can call 45 in a 30 speeding, he asked me more questions about the SRT8 then anything. First question was is this thing stock? Right there I knew he was a gearhead.
Krush 12-19-2006, 02:37 PM I don't run a front plate here Illinois, for which they can ticket me, but only if I'm committing a moving violation. I did have a cop show up at my office one day asking who owned the jeep, and told me that someone had called the station and asked that my car be ticketed for no front plate. Needless to say, he didn't ticket me, and we had a good laugh about it.
GodfatherSRT8 12-19-2006, 02:50 PM Krush, I have been ticketed before for no front plates just having my car parked at a meter in Chicago. Damn meter maids are just trigger happy.

Lucky I can NEVER find a metered parking spot in the loop! And yes, the meter maids around here will ticket your car with you in it, and laugh as they walk away.
Live in Chicago also, and my last 3 vehicles from 1996 on have never had a front plate and I have never received a ticket for no plate. Been pulled over and given tickets but never for no front plate. FWIW

SRT-8RAT 12-20-2006, 11:13 AM I didn't put mine on.
But I also have the PBA sticker.
9900rpm 12-20-2006, 03:10 PM Oh wow, I never thought about using a PBA card for front plate (I do live in NJ, but my cars are registered in PA). PBA cards do get you off a lot of things, and I'm sure it will work for the front plate thing. With speeding, they take the PBA card. I wonder if they'll take it for a front plate ticket too, or will they just give U the head nod and walk away...

Your dealer is a hop skip and a jump from my house. I'll keep an eye out for you. Good luck.

I need to find a better dealer in that area to service my GC SRT8. My dealer is not up to speed on SRT vehicles. Please let me know if your friend who owns Butler Jeep would like to meet me and possibly take over servicing my rig. If so, I will start with the transmission TSB that came out this week. Thanks!!!
viperr817 12-21-2006, 07:36 PM About the front plate thing, here is what i do. First of all i'm in ohio, same b.s. law about the front plate. I keep mine under the passenger mat so when i do get pulled over i quickly put it in the front window. Right away as i am pulling over, now this takes some brains to remember, but once you get it down it works like a charm. At least in ohio.:)

Welcome! Which SRT8 do you have? I am in Clinton Township, Hunterdon County.
Mango 12-22-2006, 05:05 AM I am considering using LaFlam Chrysler in Glendora, NJ. I met a 300C SRT8 owner and he highly recommended them. It's in South Jersey, close to where I live.
I would go to Warnock, but the GPS in the truck says it's 2 hours north of me!!

jayeepee 12-22-2006, 08:37 AM I was just messing with them. I have been to Chicago and it is a great city. Wrigley Field is awesome!
