Ok, guys took it to the dealer and my problem was as follows.....

In the morning i start the truck and let it run before i take off to work AND WITHIN THE LAST WEEK I STARTED TO HEAR THE BOTTOM END KNOCK...
The truck has less then 3000 miles on it and has been driven like an old lady.

So i take it in and they tell me and question me on what kind of gas i'm using and how i drive it??? Well if i wanted to put spegetti sause in the tank or drive it like i stole it it should not matter because the things brand new ....

So they will let me know in a by the end of the day.

I'll keep you guys posted.... But the dealer seems clueless.

you can certainly put spaghetti sauce in the tank, but then you can't expect the motor to run properly. if a motor is designed for a certain octane fuel and you put in something lower, all kinds of things can happen, ranging from "nothing really" up thru pre-detonation in the cylinders. there is a thread over on the blue/orange site (http://www.***********/forums/showthread.php?t=4215&highlight=octane)

even "Premium" from certain gas stations is not the same octane rating as other gas stations, sometimes you gotta check the #. i know my buddy with his F150 Harley Davidson got a bad tank of gas one time and his motor was detonating noticeably.

Certainly i have not put spaghetti sauce in the tank but was the engine built by a bunch of high school tech kids or what?

I post for the simple fact to find info, problems and concerns on the SRT and from other owners.

If you plan on knocking me on my post then come big or not at all!!:p

I love when they ask about how you've been driving it. If I ever have an engine problem and get that question, I'm going to be lying through my teeth. I didn't buy this truck to baby it and keep it below 3000 rpm. It's a performance vehicle and I expect to use the performance! If the engine breaks due to this driving style, maybe it should have been more over engineered as a result.

I run 94 oct and haven't had even a hint of engine knock ... might be worth trying some better gas and see if it improves; a cheap diagnostic if nothing else.

OK just heard back from the dealer and NOW they are going to put there master tech on it and tear down the engine to see and document the problem by picture.

So tomorrow i am going up there and tell them to replace the motor or the Truck it self with the same one. I don't want them tearing down the engine in my truck....replace it!!! and let me be the happy customer and tear it down on your own time.

I did not buy this truck to have them dissect it and then stand around it and say oh ya!!!!!

I love the truck and it is a beast but there is a line of customer satisfaction that they are over looking as a dealer.

A question is there a such thing as a SRT tech like Ford has there SVT techs?

i apologize if you thought i was, but i didn't mean to knock you at all. i was just saying that a high compression NA motor might be sensitive to lower octane fuel, and sometimes it's possible to get a dud batch of gas.

i check in here and the blue site 4-5x a day, and this is the first time i've heard anything about engine knock from this motor. i agree with Lucky... maybe try a tank of Sunoco 94 just to see if that clears things up. if not, you're only out 1 tank of gas and then see if the dumbells at the dealership can come up with something

some DCX dealerships do have dedicated "SRT Techs" like the SVT guys.

as for the customer service, yes i have heard DCX sucks. Nissan/Infiniti is not much better. my VQ35DE motor has known SEVERE oil consumption issues in many cars... unfortunately for many people on those forums, they had to go thru hell and back with the dealerships to get them to put a new V6 in there

in any event, good luck dealing with the dealership! i wish you the best and please keep everyone updated

Thanks and just to let you know ...i'm more upset with the whole situation when you buy a truck of this caliber you expect the best and what you buy being a high performance truck like this should be like a well oiled machine.
At the present time i have alot of doubt about the SRT team and the quality of the truck.

I will keep you guys posted but as always post all info that you guys and gals come across that can benefit.

ROFLMAO!!! A truck of this caliber :) What caliber exactly is it. The way I see it (I have a love/hate relationship with this truck) is it's nothing more then a parts bin Jeep. Dodge motor, MB tranny, Jeep transfer case, etc...this truck is of, VERY, average pedigree IMHO. Don't expect anything more then average Jeep service and average Jeep quality and you'll be happy.

Average if i wanted average i would have bought a Vette. So the caliber should match the price....you buy an SRT-4 you get what you pay for Right? Well i spent my hard earned money and pay a note on so said Bin of Parts truck...thanks for the info....and i will keep you posted on the progress of my problem..:D

Don't expect anything more then average Jeep service and average Jeep quality and you'll be happy.i think lincoln just hit the nail on the head. this is the first time there has ever been a Jeep branded performance vehicle. granted i don't have one yet, but i already can see that 90% of the dealerships out there don't know **** about this truck and how to properly take care of it

at least when the TBSS guys bring their truck in for service it isn't the first time the tech has laid his hands on an LS2 motor (probably?)

So ask your dealership what their qualifications are. After hanging around a Jeep dealer now and then, you'll know who knows what (and who knows who :))
Don't assume anything, inquire and communicate. I know some people who have had very, very bad experiences with dealerships but stuck it out to their own advantage and end up satisfied afterall. You can't label somebody from one experience. If you don't look out for yourself and your vehicle, you could really get screwed!! So how the **** do you know that 90% of them don't know ****? That's too damn funny

Be aware of SMOKE threaders!

Be aware of SMOKE threaders!i've been on these forums for about 2 months, and i just see ALOT of threads either a) complaining about a dealer who did something stupid, or b) looking for a competent dealer in their area. that led me to believe that alot of them don't know what's up... of course i could be wrong. either way, definitely wasn't trying to be a "smoke threader".

The dealer called about an hour ago and took the motor apart and have found that the lifters on both sides are loose!!! They are telling me it is the first problem that they and tech services have seen or heard of.

They have so far been good with me and have given me seen the 10th a rental car and have called me everyday with updates.

They tell me it will be done by Tuesday.

I'll keep you guys posted.:D

marsh, it really dose matter what gas you put in, a high proformance ang. that says in the truck, gas gauge and manu. that u must use prem, the car will deft knock. plus our jeeps are know to have a transfer wench noise. and yes i have one, plus our trucks really arnt that much, and its a jeep, there are more jeeps in the air then on the ground. also this is the first time that a jeep has put out a high proform truck. so there will be alot of probl. as far as you getting a knew truck or engin dont hold your breath, I have had jeeps my whole life, and some have probls. and others dont, ive went from having distric mangs. with lemon laws trying to fixs problems with other jeeps. never really works out. any high proform car/truck when you beat on it will break down, just how things are made now, this is not a like i said expensive or well built truck ( not porsh bently ) it is only a 45 thousand dollar truck, that is a jeep and in first temp of a sports truck. but enjoy it for what it is, a poor mans z06 lol. but good luck with your fix

Yes, but this Jeep will beat a Z06..................Well, it will in the rain, from a stop light!

DCX has quality issues that they need to address.

That sounds like pretty good service. I know I've had worse, both from Nissan and Chrysler dealers. Especially calling every day. It's good to know that they are working on it.
