: Mopar coolant part #

I need to add some coolant to my system after having my t-stat changed a few weeks ago.

I went to the Jeep dealership to get some. The guy behind the parts counter just handed me Mopar # 5066386AA (without looking anything up)

It does say 5 year 100,000 mile on the jug. But doesn't say HOAT on it anywhere.

When I asked if it was HOAT, he looked at me like I was talking a foreign language and just asked what year jeep is it. I said 07. He said that the right stuff.

Can someone confirm mopar 5066386AA coolant is what we use before I crack open the jug. It cost me $23.24 including tax.

Thats not really correct. What he sold you is correct. With Mopar you never, ever, ever want to mix unlike coolant it can cause it to form a paste and say bye, bye to your engine.
The cooling system is designed around the coolant. The coolant must accept heat from engine metal, in the cylinder head area near the exhaust valves and engine block. Then coolant carries the heat to the radiator where the tube/fin radiator can transfer the heat to the air.
The use of aluminum cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, and water pumps requires special corrosion protection. MoparŪ Antifreeze/Coolant, 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula (MS-9769), or the equivalent ethylene glycol base coolant with hybrid organic corrosion inhibitors (called HOAT, for Hybrid Organic Additive Technology) is recommended. This coolant offers the best engine cooling without corrosion when mixed with 50% Ethylene Glycol and 50% distilled water to obtain a freeze point of -37°C (-35°F). If it loses color or becomes contaminated, drain, flush, and replace with fresh properly mixed coolant solution.
The green coolant MUST NOT BE MIXED</B itxtvisited="1"> with the orange or magenta coolants. When replacing coolant the complete system flush must be performed before using the replacement coolant.
CAUTION: MoparŪ Antifreeze/Coolant, 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula (MS-9769) may not be mixed with any other type of antifreeze. Doing so will reduce the corrosion protection and may result in premature water pump seal failure. If non-HOAT coolant is introduced into the cooling system in an emergency, it should be replaced with the specified coolant as soon.

FYI ZEREX MAKES THE MOPAR COOLANT

Zerex G-05 is the only equivalent to what they sell at the dealership

Thanks :)

I did a search on the part #, but didn't get any results. But I have heard that it will turn into mud if you mix different types with the HOAT stuff.

Tony they only sell that one kind, if you look right under the MILE on the 5 Year / 100,000 MILE you will see MS-9769 so your good brother

I'm not sure where you live but the minimal amount you lost you could of replaced with distilled water (not tap) but if you have cold winter around the corner than your doing right

Its at the very bottom of the overflow bottle. I live on top of a mountain chain. We get days straight where the temp never goes above mid 20's and falls below zero at night time.

I just looked this up. A little depressing in the winter time. But I love to ski :D

Johnstown, PA climate is warm during summer when temperatures tend to be in the 70's and very cold during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 30's.

The warmest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 86.50 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 20.90 degrees Fahrenheit.

And like Wade said, this is the only aftermarket AF with HOAT so far. I also read they have a 50/50 blend so you dont have to worry about mixing.

I get Zerex G-05 at CarQuest, they can order from their warehouse. Zerex is owned by Valvoline, so any big Valvoline Dealer should be able to get it. Use Nothing else!

The stuff I picked up today from the dealership says 5year/250,000km (which is quite a bit more than 100,000 miles) - it also doesn't say HOAT anywhere. Is this the right stuff?

I only topped up from about half an inch below the add line to half an inch above it - but I also used regular tap water as opposed to de-ionized water...

Think it'll be ok?

How much coolant do you need to replace after rad flush?

The coolant capacity which includes the heater and coolant recovery bottle filled to the max level is 14.0 L (14.8 qts.).

Just to chime in and hopefully help someone.

I bought the Zerex G-05 from Napa for about $13. CarQuest also has it.

Can you use this?
Prestone Dex-Cool - it says it meets MS-9769 requirements...

Zerex is not easy to get here in Canada and the stealership is well... a stealership.
