Just bought a 07 Steel Blue and love it ....but i have just under 1500 miles and lately when i start it in the morning it souinds like a lifter tapping real loud.
I checked the basics like right oil level. checks out ok.
Anybody have anything remote to this ???
Because this doesn't look good...

Since the 6.1 Hemi has full floating wrist pins, I doubt that this is the nutorious "piston slap" that the Chevy LS1 and some LS2 engines are famous for. I have heard of a lifter "bleed down" issue that someone asked the SRT engineers about during the last chat session. This might be what is causing this noise.

I have a 06 steel blue...
Mine started sounding a little different as well. The weather changed... actually got cold so I am hoping the weather difference is what I'm hearing
Pressure and oil level is good......

I have the tapping at cold start up but once the engine is warm it's gone. It's a very light tapping (not real loud like you describe). A buddy told me it's the injectors and is normal. The dealer checked it for me back in August and said all is normal but did not confirm the injecter theory. They even did some diagnostic work to be sure. After the oil change issue I had the other day at the same dealer, who knows.

i have also heard, on other engines, a heat riser which i guess is a small spring loaded diverter in the exhaust manifold that directs some of the exhaust gasses back to the engine for quicker warm up. i don't know if this device is on our hemi but, if so, the sound is like a lifter. it's prevalent when the engine is cold and diminishes as it gets warm. when the device gets old and the springs tension weakens the riser will make some clatter all the time.
just my 2c, fwiw.

Yes that's right Steel blue is only 2007
Also if you use your remote start you never hear any of the noises. In fact everything is warm and cosy by the time I get in the vehicle - ignorance is bliss:D
