Coming up to my first oil change. I like the point about synthetic oil priming better because it flows better in the cold
since I'm in the frozen north:cool:

I am using AMSOIL and can say from using it myself for 20 + years. You don't burn it and it will start at 50 below 0. I could go on and on but it just works..................

http://www.p3productions.com/srt/polar_jeep_small.jpgJust did my first change last week, and with it I am using a Mobil "1" extended performance filter No.M1-204, why, because it will filter down below 1 micron which most filters won't and it is rated a full flow filter with longer life. Just a suggestion.

Another view! I was an "Amsoil" Dealer and used it in my Buick GN. Results: took out my inner pinon bearing in the rear end, softened the tranny o-rings, and on my 75 Jeep Cherokee, took out my cam and lifters! Sure it starts good in cold weather but it has other problems. It was the first on the market not Mobil 1. Never in my JGC! Gene

I reallly don't buy that this was the AMSOIL that caused your problems as I have used it in more than 10 cars for more than 20 years. zero problems zero. I ran the motor oil to the 25,000 mark as they claim in several oilfield service trucks that saw use that that most cars and trucks never see. I am sorry I don't believe it was the oil. Total usage of this product more than 500,000 miles and I for one think it is a great product.

I've never tried AMSOIL but I use Mobil 1 in the Porsche and it has always served me well. In fact that is recommended by Porsche for their engines. Its seems remarkably clean and smooth. Actually goes well with whiskey & soda (On the rocks):D

My rear end rebuilder said never use "Synthetic Gear Lube in any Rear" period. I won't warranty my installation if you use it. I was an Amsoil Dealer and ran it, never again! Now Mopar uses Synthetics in most of their drive trains new that's OK. I'll use Mobil 1 in my JGC's Engine always. Gene

The funny think about anyones individual experience with any thing, oil or anything else, is so limited, that if we have a bad experience we tend to put blame somewhere weather right or wrong. The science of synthetic oil just makes perfect cents. Make a product that is more uniform and not random as mineral oil it will behave in a more predictable manner. Some of the first Amsoil was proven in rear ends in a race car, they would not only last the race but several. Where the mineral oil use would not even last one race. I don't believe that the problem was with the oil not that you did not have a real problem sure you did. I am also sure just because I have not had any problems and have had nothing but excellent results, also does not prove anything either, buy its self. There also are just to many others that have had proven results to say flatly that it is a bad product. I for one will continue to use Amsoil
