hi all,
i have been running my truck lately with the G-tech meter to get some 0-60 times. first run was slightly downhill, so i did another one that was slightly uphill to see the difference, and i was surprised. my last run was on a dead flat section of road.

my runs in order were as follows:

4.23
4.27
4.15

i made an intake for my truck that is similar to the mopar, but that is the only modification to the engine. i have almost 12K miles, and it is definitely getting faster as the miles go on it.

wow, those are great numbers. How accurate is the G-tech meter?

seriously how accurate is G-tech? cause those are the lowest 0-60 times i've seen so far with no major mods

Those times sound too good to be true. 4.1 holy crap.

I was a little shocked myself. I ran the 4.23 about a month before, so the other two times didn't seem too far off. The G-tech claims to be accurate to within one tenth of a second. Perhaps someone else with a G-tech can try it. I am powerbraking up to 2000 RPM with the traction control off.

Motor trend got a 4.5 out of a brand new one, and I ran a 4.7 with the same G-tech meter when my truck was brand new. I really think it becomes faster when it breaks in.

Please, someone else try it!!

I ran consistant 4.8's with 3K on my SRT8. Now I get 4.5 at 85 degrees and have 5 runs around 4.2 when the temp dropped into the 50's with 7K on the truck.

To offset sloping roads, average 2 runs in opposite directions.

Isn't it amazing that 10 years ago if a stock vehicle was running 0-60 in 6 seconds, it was considered fast. Now we have Jeeps running in the low 4s with the promise of cracking the 3 second barrier.

Yes that's true and I can't seem to resist testing that 3 second barrier every day. You can play havoc with the average miles per gallon readout. Do a short trip at WOT - turn the engine off and on again. I've had down to 6 miles per gallon -:D

Hey what were the G's on the G tech when you ran these numbers?

i never checked.

i took it out the other night to do some followup runs on a different road and the best i could get was a 4.7. it was a bumpy road with debris on it, and the tires would spin a little bit at launch. my previous times of around 4.2 seconds were in completely optimum conditions, on new roads, with no tire spin. take that into account if you plan on doing any runs.

you mean this "3 second" barrier??

0-60 = 3.88

Here are the instructions on how to do it:
1. Put your times in the following format in Excel:

time distance (for example)
2.439 60
6.737 330
10.202 660
13.154 1000
15.683 1320

2. Make an X/Y graph with the time on the X axis and the distance on the Y axis.

3. Add a trendline (polynomial fit of order 2) and display the formula. For those of us with less Excel experience than others, do this by clicking on any data point on the graph, then click on Chart in the main menu. Then click on Add Trendline. Then select polynomial. Make sure that it says order 2. Click on Options. Toward the bottom, click the box for Display Equation on Chart

4. Now you should have a graph with your data, plus a curvefit, plus a formula. This formula is in the form

y = ax^2 + bx + c

In another cell in Excel type the following:

"=(88-b)/2/a" inserting your values for a and b of course

My G-Tech recorded a 4.556 second 0-60 time, and 1.02g at launch. Mine only had 2500 miles on it at the time, so maybe it will get better. I still need to get it on the scales so I calibrate the meter properly...

Beats me!!! I read somewhere that the magazines were starting to use them for their tests. I hope it's accurate, I really just don't know. If anybody has some info on this, I sure would like to hear it!!!
