: Nissan GT-R price hike now 10k extra...
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 05:25 PM http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=131738
lol, stupid. I'll take that '09 cts-v now. Go on ebay see how many are on there and see how nobody is paying over 90k for one. This "nissan" is gonna flop big for that type of coin.
aplatero1984 09-11-2008, 05:34 PM there are alot of used ones for sale now. if 99-200 miles is what u call used. Still $90k plus though:(
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 05:36 PM ^ i noticed that too, i wonder whats turning off buyers at 2-300 miles ? - probaly the strict nissan warranty or lack of dealers that can service it.
aplatero1984 09-11-2008, 05:55 PM ^ i noticed that too, i wonder whats turning off buyers at 2-300 miles ? - probaly the strict nissan warranty or lack of dealers that can service it.
that is a definite possibility. maybe the owners didn't think it lived up to what was expected
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 06:18 PM ^ especially if there are strict guidelines to the gtr's almighty "launch control"
aplatero1984 09-11-2008, 06:21 PM ^ especially if there are strict guidelines to the gtr's almighty "launch control"
I'm sure they are STRICT about everything right now. I can just imagine how much it'll cost them once the WARRANTY CLAIMS comes rolling in.
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 06:36 PM ^ which they obviously will since this car was aimed at the "budget supercar" buyer. They would have been wiser to bring out a upgraded AWD system from the old r34 and mated it to a V161 getrag. Something really stout that could handle the aftermarket upgrades. Nissan is not gonna make a profit off of these GTR's for a very long time.
silverbullet 09-11-2008, 06:38 PM I bet all these used one are those that the owner turned off launch control and after 5 seconds of fun realized that they just lost their warranty! Then its like oh $hit... better sell this as used

exactly! that is the reason why they are making bank right now while the "fire is still hot" if you will.
I still think they should've kept the RB26 engine and stroked the FOCK out of it and slapped some ginormous turbos on it:D
aplatero1984 09-11-2008, 06:40 PM I bet all these used one are those that the owner turned off launch control and after 5 seconds of fun realized that they just lost their warranty! Then its like oh $hit... better sell this as used
they would really loose their warranty if they do that?
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 07:00 PM ^ I heard after 5 launch control launches the car has to go back to the dealer to get " checked and serviced " if you go a 6th time, well bye bye warranty. There are a sh*tlo*d of other stipulations to their warranties. They so could have stroked the rb and made it crank out just as much hp as this one w/out the uber price and " frailty " right now that double clutch trans is the weak point. And its like a 20k trans to boot. Such a shame that they fugged up such a good oppurtunity to bring back "godzilla" Well good time for good ole' american bruisers to make a comeback :D
scottina06 09-11-2008, 08:13 PM where are you guys getting this info?
The reason they are selling with 2-300 miles is people are buying them and then selling for a profit.
scottina06 09-11-2008, 08:19 PM I'll just say this....I tried to purchase one of these babies and I saw all the required maint. broshures, paperwork etc. and none of this was in any of the paperwork.
liquiddi 09-11-2008, 08:41 PM I would rather have a Z06 anyways.
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 09:13 PM I'll just say this....I tried to purchase one of these babies and I saw all the required maint. broshures, paperwork etc. and none of this was in any of the paperwork.
stuff like that would probally be way in the back of the drivers manual. lol, they probally wouldnt even let you see it untill you gave them a deposit. - I was getting the info from supraforums - a guy on there is a nissan tech learning to work on the gtr ( special classes to work on the thing )
scottina06 09-11-2008, 10:11 PM I saw it all...talked to techs and Nissan Corp. reps.
But lets be honest here.....if Jeep realized someone was abusing an SRT8 way beyond...would they not do the same?
There is special training and a special rack for the GT-R....I have seen it all as I had a deposit on one-----but the asking prices soared and knocked me out.
GotStroked 09-12-2008, 01:05 AM **** that, I'd rather have a 06 M6 with 5-10k miles or even a new C6 Z06.
SRTYA 09-12-2008, 08:41 AM ^^^^^^^^^I agree, I can think of ten cars I would rather have that cost less. I am not a big fan of the GTR at all. They are a dime a dozen around here I have seen 4 of them in the last two weeks alone.
Razorecko 09-12-2008, 09:39 AM watch the prices drop like a rock in the next two years when you'll have like the cts-v out, used 63's will be floating around/probally with a solid aftermarket.

only 2000 are being shipped to the US.......and all are sold.

I have to disagree....I think they wil hold their price just like the other great sports cars.....maybe even better.

SH*IT!!!! that sucks!!!
And Andrian I agree they should've brought back the "GODZILLA" alot of people would've have been very happy about that.

damn! you are probably right!:D

oh its def inevitable. That's why I don't think it is wise to buy one now since its so freakin expensive.:(
SRTYA 09-12-2008, 10:00 AM only 2000 are being shipped to the US.......and all are sold.
Apparently at least four of them have ended up in my neck of the woods. Might be that I live right next to the most affluent neighborhood in Central Florida (Isle worth http://www.isleworth.com/) that is home to several famous athletes, actors, and business owners. The funny thing is I parked right next one of them so I could check it out, and that was in a Target parking lot. LOL

As long as you don't have to pee! LOL
Razorecko 09-12-2008, 10:15 AM 2000 a year sounds like a minimalist number but in reality its not that bad. I guess we'll see what happens in the long run though....Lol, could be also that you see them on ebay w/ only a couple hundred miles is because they're getting smoked on the highways by z06's. As much as i love the jeep you'll probally get more highway runs than red lights nowadays.
aplatero1984 09-12-2008, 10:15 AM As long as you don't have to pee! LOL

LOL!! I just ran home for lunch and guess what I saw. Yep another insinuated "illusive" GTR, in all honesty it may be one I have seen before because it is the second gray one I have seen. And it was turning into Isle worth hahaha...
Razorecko 09-12-2008, 12:18 PM ^ there is just another thread right now going about how some dudes friend&dad picked one up for msrp. If they're being picked up for msrp the demand is not as hyped as nissan woud want to make it seem.

SORRY...but they told a little fib then.
Razorecko 09-12-2008, 01:49 PM ^ you'd suprised - i knew somebody that was gonna get it for msrp ( he knew a dealer owner ) but than decided he didnt want it because it wasnt gonna come in stick. Connections make all the difference.

I wish I could have got mine for MSRP. Most here wanted $20-40K over MSRP before they actually came out, based on whatthey were getting in. I finally found one for 8k over MSRP and it came to over 80K+tax. They have gone up in price since then, but the huge markdowns have come down. You can get a 09 Z06 that has an MSRP for 80K for 69K now. The GT-R is everything I wanted. I had 2 jeep SRT's that are beast, but this is in a nwhole different league. Handles great wet or dry, easy to drive, and plenty of dealers around. Never heard of this 5 launches but I will check out the Warranty book again. A Z06 will take it from a 120 roll to 190, but I don;t drive 150 MPH. From a stop light, forget it. No lag, it just fly's. If they keep importing them, the mark-ups will disappear. When the ZR-1 this is coming out are starting to love their 50K mark-up,s and for those that wait a year, you will get them at MSRP or lower. Look at how the Z06 has come down after all the hype several years ago. Even the Challenger SRT is coming down to MSRP and lower. Just look at what you can buy the Jeep and Charger SRT for.
Razorecko 09-15-2008, 08:33 AM ^ thats with every vehicle, given the economies of the world currently i see the gt-r hitting msrp within a year n' a half. :D
liquiddi 09-15-2008, 08:55 AM Z06 from a start forget about it? Every magazine I have read has the Z06 smoking the GTR from 0-whatever. Maybe if you didn't know how to drive a stick you would get beat by a GTR in a Z06. If you know how to drive like I do it's not very hard to launch a C6 with Zero wheel spin. Here is a prime example of the real world how the Z06 owns the GTR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjmyt52-c8c
shodanusmc 09-15-2008, 01:26 PM gtr 0-60 IN 3.3, z06 in arond 3.7. I learned how to drive a stick before you were born, if you were born after 1965! A ZO6 will not take a GT-R from a dig. You want to take a GT-R from a Dig, bring the new ZR-1 or something else. Sorry, Thats kust how it is.
Razorecko 09-15-2008, 01:27 PM a jeep w/ a sms blower will take it to 60 :D
scottina06 09-15-2008, 02:06 PM ...they have a white one locally...not my color...but i'm gonna go look at it.

Well, if you are 3.3 or under, you will. Only 2 cars I am afraid of at a light. The BMW 318 and 335.

318 & 335 :huh::confused: I regularly kick the shi%t out of my friends 335 coupe from a dig.
Razorecko 09-16-2008, 06:11 AM well the 335XI w/ the vishnu tune might be a problem. It would than have around 420hp/430tq, dump the clutch at 5k and we'd probally be in trouble.
navyavi469 09-16-2008, 06:20 AM 10K extra... so.. how much is the out-the-door cost on a well-equipped GT-R now? Its gotta be close to the 100K mark... for that money the ZR1 could be had. Already proven 4 seconds faster at the Ring, parts cheap, no more maintenance than a C6, mods cheap too. LS9+pulley could potentially be over 700rw Carbon Ceramic breaks used on the Enzo, alum chasis, magnesium crossmembers, balsa composite floor, carbon fiber quarterpanels/roof/hood? Nobody gives the vette any credit, they just go all gaa-gaa for rice.
The only novel thing the GTR brings to the table is AWD. Its a huge advantage off the line, but its been proven that on the track that RWD is just as fast or faster.
Vinnysrt8 09-16-2008, 06:40 AM that crazy its a big price jump
^ there is just another thread right now going about how some dudes friend&dad picked one up for msrp. If they're being picked up for msrp the demand is not as hyped as nissan woud want to make it seem.
At the track day in Joliet. There was a guy there that got his for list. I talked to him and he put his money down way before they were coming out and then had his contract with the dealer notorized making it a legal document. I also asked about the warranty thing and they(dad and kid) both state internet BS on the "launch mode" voiding your warranty.
Razorecko 09-16-2008, 07:03 AM ^ thats good to know but like navi said there is no way that sucker is worth 80k to start. After taxes, fees, you'd probally be lookint near 100k
SRTYA 09-16-2008, 08:25 AM I will take a Z06, ZR-1, or a new Viper over one any day of the week.
shodanusmc 09-16-2008, 12:51 PM 318 & 335 :huh::confused: I regularly kick the shi%t out of my friends 335 coupe from a dig.
I was joking. You know over on the BMW forum that they are beating all cars. No, no BMW is a problem for a GT-R.

I am in the Chicago area, and to me, AWD was important. When you can get a new Z06 that has a 80K MSRP for 69K, that is a killer deal. Now, if you can find a good dealer, around 83K for a new GT-R, but most likely you will be liucky to find one for 85K+. I really like the Corvette, all models. When the ZR-1's start selling for MSRP and below, I would be interested in one. The GT-R is great for what it does. I just went with my neighbor over to the Chevy dealer to pick up a new Z06 a while ago. Outstanding vehicle.

I'm coming along for the Ride!!! Let me get a black Cts-v
speedking1121 09-16-2008, 04:51 PM LOL. As far as I see it, until you actually drive a ZR1 or GTR you are just blowing smoke out your as$...internet information. LOL
Anyone in CO who wants to check out the GTR first hand shoot me a PM as we'll have it out at Red Rocks on sunday.
liquiddi 09-16-2008, 09:34 PM I really want a new Viper ACR. I would take that as well any day of the week over the GTR. For a car like that it would not be a daily driver for me. I basically want a race car so that would be Viper ACR or ZR1.

The only thing that held me back from a Viper over the Z06 was the interior and comfort. I understand that the Viper is supposed to be a "no frills speed vehicle", but lets face it... its a factory production street car that in most cases will be driven primarily for personal use, not on a track.
The Viper interior is hiedous, they haven't changed much since 1994. Every auto journalist since then has complained severely of the noise, ride, heat, clunky feel, and cheap plastic that surrounds you. Not to mention that fact that when I test drove an SRT10 it felt like ass.
IMHO you can't sell a 90K+ street car with the interior of an 85 toyota corolla. The Z06 may not be a benz or bimmer, but its smooth, well laid out, looks more modern, leather everywhere, has upgraded electronic amenities, no engine heat issues, much quieter. The GTR looks even more so... I love the ACR, and they just claimed a 7:22 at the nurberring, I watched the video.. granted they had to make several, serveral passes with a pro driver, super dry cool day, and many tweaks to the suspension in order to achieve it. But thats what the ACR is supposed to be all about, the ability to tweak a factory car for a particular track on a particular day and get the most out of it.

good points! The only problem with the Z06 is most people on Corvette Forum says the Z06 is not that much of an upgrade over the LS3 vette. I don't know if I believe that. The one thing I do know is the C6, Z06 and ZR1 all look basically the same. It's kind of like how I would never own a mustang because there is a v6 base model version. Kind of the same with the Jeep SRT8 but the SRT8 can pull it off for some reason. The Viper is a Viper. That is what attracts me to it. I will own one some day. I would own one now if it wans't for the darn expensive house I'm buying :(
Jeep Trick 09-18-2008, 12:23 PM Saw two at an aftermarket wheel shop today.
