: anybody lemon their beast ?
mossosrt8 09-10-2008, 09:04 PM got my ETC error code cleared, then they replaced the sensor, now there replacing the whole computer. something tells me they cant fix this prob and im prob gonna have to lemon it, anyone else do so ? how was the process ?
mortimer 09-10-2008, 10:07 PM Search and I'm sure you can find a few stories -- I remember at least a couple folks on here talking about having to lemon theirs.
It's not an easy thing to do, there's guidelines under which you *have* to fall in order to even begin the process, and it ain't free. My understanding is you still have to pay for your use of the car, regardless of the problems you had. For example, if you lemon-lawed the car at 12,000 miles, you won't just get a new car for free, you'll have to pay for the 12k miles you used, and then you get a new or similar-condition car to replace your lemon. It's a lengthy process, from what I've heard . . .
robbiesdad 09-11-2008, 07:18 AM I'm sure the laws are different for each state. I know that Razorecko lemoned his and got a new GC as a result. Not sure what it cost him...

Razorecko 09-11-2008, 09:29 AM ^ didnt cost me a thing except alot of b*tching and about a 2k msrp difference. - First you gotta read the stipulations for your state on lemon laws in that little handbook that comes with the gc manual. Most of the time the initial problem has to be mentioned and documented on paperwork before 12,000 miles. Luckily mine was at like 11,200. Than the dealer had to try to repair it a miniumum of 3 times within the first year. If its after the first year you probally wont even be able to lemon it anymore. I gave them about 5 chances to repair it before i filled out the little lemon card, made an official document stating that i will get a lawyer involved if i dont get this vehicle lemon'd and sent it out overnight usps ( need to prove you even sent it) AFTER they get the documentation they have the right in illinois to still try to repair it 1 more time (lol) they did and the tech said it was fixed so we went for a drive togethor and the error popped up again right before we got back to the dealer. And thats all she wrote. The only $$ i had to pay for was the msrp difference between an 07 and 08, which was about $2k. You gotta remember when i finally got my jeep lemon'd it almost had 30k on it. I also stressed in the letter it was costing chrysler wayyyy more working on the car than trying to fix it. You need to show them that its COSTING them as much as it is for you. Between all the service hours and constant wiring it probally cost them 10k to try to fix the damn ride. Obviously after a certain point even the dealer is fighting for you because your ride is costing them service $$$$ they are not getting paid for not too mention i put about 20k of miles on their loaner cars ( I drive alot ) =). Also probally another reason that i managed to get it lemon'd was that the only mods i had was a MOPER cai and a Mopar exhaust installed by the dealer. Also had a 180 jet stat that never threw any codes but that was all prior to chrysler sending out notices about the 180 stat. I'll tell you this though if you do lemon it, take the money back instead of getting a new vehicle under lemon law you can get the full amount of money you paid for the vehicle back, remember that -obvsiouly they'll try to sell you another call but just tell them f*ck no.. I had to leave my original dealer because I was on their "****" list and chrysler's **** list too. Hell my first complaint with my '08 and they actually sent all my pcm data straight to chrysler and the dealership manager called to ***** me out about using the "trac off" in dry conditions. So let me say it again..." IF YOU LEMON GET YOUR MONEY BACK AND GET ANOTHER CAR AS CHRYSLER WILL PUT YOU ON A SH*T LIST"

another satisfied chrysler customer :D
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 10:01 AM ^ that was all my mistake, i should have known better that once you lemon w/ chrysler they'll have a very watchfull eye on you . I mean hell, sending chrysler your PCM info ?? Than them analyzing all the data, how i was driving, how fast - scary stuff. Oh well live n' learn. Knock on wood my '08 has been solid as a rock and has already 17k on it w/out missing a beat. :D:D - Although i'll probally have to dump it before 40k because i dont want to do battle w/ chrysler over warranty issues down the road.
mossosrt8 09-11-2008, 03:45 PM thank you. got it fixed for the third time today. on the drive home the same problem happened. im going to meet with the managers tomorrow morning about making it a lemon. i think im going to just get a new one because my family has bought many jeeps from this dealership and i doubt they will try to mess with em just because i lemoned it.
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 05:18 PM ^ also think about depreciations, you will get msrp for your vehicle if you want cash. Think about the market right now for suv's. If i had to do it again i'd get an awd car like an RS4 or somethin instead. Something that holds value better down the road than a jeep srt.
mossosrt8 09-11-2008, 05:23 PM 1. can't afford and wouldn't wait for the rs4 even if its amazing 2. i love the srt. if i take a new car will i have to pay anything for a new 08 if mine was an 08 ?

^ nope msrp would be the same - clean swap.
BlackJeepSRT 09-11-2008, 08:23 PM OT - How did the dealership read your PCM? What did you bring it in for?
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 09:16 PM ^ i brought it in for a strange vibration in the drivetrain driving w/ the trac off around 40mph. I brought it in , a day later the service manager calls *****ing at me about how chrysler saw the pcm info and i wasnt supposed to be driving the vehicle that way. I told her its a performance vehicle and it said nothing of me not being able to drive that way in the manual. Last time i went for service there.
Crookster777 09-11-2008, 09:23 PM Oh **** so you mean Chrysler knows that I always have ESP Off and am in Tow/Haul?
Razorecko 09-11-2008, 09:25 PM ^ if they wanted too probally, odds are they wont take the time as in you're not as special as me :p
