Well we finalized all the papers last night. The car will be ready tommarow afternoon. Going down there and picking her up tommarow. I cant wait. Tommarow is going to see like a really long day. My question is what is the break in period of the SRT-8?
Thanks

Doing a burnout in the parking lot of the dealership would be considered proper break-in.

Congratulations. Just read the section in your owners manual. Take it easy the first 300 miles. No WOT from a stop for the 300, and after around 150 miles, do some WOT when you are moving and its safe to do so.

I drove mine hard, right out of the lot. Actually in the lot, too, literally. :D

No problems with the truck since, other than a smashed in window and a carpenter screw in the tire, and I'm assuming that's not related to break-in technique... ;)

i drove it hard w/ 57 miles on it to date.... i might be dumb to do so but i think sice i will be driving it hard everyday i should get it used to it from the get go.

Congrats! As mentioned already the manual suggests a break-in period. However three reputable dealers in my area and one very good mechanic (close freind) say that break-in is not necessary on new engines these days due to a "factory" break-in performed before the vehicle leaves the plant. I can't attest to whether that's true or not but I babied mine for the first 50 miles until I couldn't stand it anymore and took her out to see what she could do. I raced a Mustang GT with nearly 70 miles on the Jeep that night and I've been driving it hard ever since. I've had no problems, in fact the more I drive it the faster it gets. Early on I was hitting 60 anywhere from 4.8 to 5 seconds. Now with 4,000 miles I'm hitting 60 in 4.5 sec consistantly. So I'd say there definitely is a performance break-in period but I don't think you need to worry about a mechanical break-in. The computer should adjust to how you drive so drive it hard and the Jeep will take care of the rest. :)

Oh yea, BTW.........I slaughtered the Mustang!! :D
