: CMR Tune RE-Write Questions???
Get$$$Man 09-09-2008, 07:21 AM I had my CMR tune done by Andy and MHP when I first got the Jeep with only the 4'' BWoody.
Since then, I have installed a B&B catback and a 180 therm.
Now is it worth it to have the tune re written to tailor those new mods to the rig? Or would it just be a waste of time because of minimal gains/changes on both mine and Andys end?
And Andy, whats the cost to have it rewritten I since deleted the PM's when I first had the tune done.
Thanks for everyones input in advanced.
CentralTexHemi 09-09-2008, 08:22 AM I would invest in a wideband A/F at this point and then get with Andy to see where your A/F is now with the new exhaust setup and also reset your fan settings to take advantage of your 180 T-Stat
Matt McKenzie 09-09-2008, 08:23 AM I think it is $50 for an updated tune. I also think it would be better to get these mods put into that tune...JMO!
MatFab 09-09-2008, 09:20 AM Yes get a retune, with the tstat change you have a few things that should be changed as well or you could deal with it through the handheld.
Get$$$Man 09-09-2008, 10:19 AM ^^^^^All
If its only 50 for a retune that sounds good to me. I'm looking into hitting the dyno to see my A/F results to get the most outta the retune.
GotStroked 09-09-2008, 03:09 PM A/F data would be by far the most important thing and would help out a lot. The catback won't do anything and the T-stat is nothing we can't handle through the Predator itself.
Thanks
Andy
Mike_Levy 09-13-2008, 09:14 PM I was gonn ask a similar question. I'm having heads/cam installed and I'm wondering if its worth having Andy do the retune, or if I should just have another shop do it on the dyno w/ the wideband.
CentralTexHemi 09-13-2008, 09:19 PM Okay guys here is what gets me so this is just a rant and not taking shots at you. We spend all this money on mods, heck a diablo and custom tune is not cheap by itself but heck heads/cam/catback were talking alot of money, WHY not invest in a 300.00 widebabnd A/F that you can permanantly install and take all the guess work out of tuning and get more out of your tune, trust me your tuner will thank you for it. By the time you get on the dyno a few times you could of payed for one that is yours and there each time you drive the jeep. I'm surprised tuners are not requiring A/F readings with bigger mods and if not I can bet their tunes come rich to cover thier asses. I'd suggest the AEM UEGO, very easy install and for a good price you get a quality A/F guage I've done a very detailed install write up with pics for it on the Connection that I can post here.

Wade, I disagree. It's going to cost more then $300 to install a quality wide band by the time you get the sensors cut in and everything else. If you plan on modding very slowly, it may be a good idea and you may offset the cost, but if you make major mods, just hit the rollers and be done with it. I would save the money and spend it on something else like tires. Once it's tuned for your mods, you don't need the A/F meter anymore. It's just something to look at. IMHO.

I bought my wideband for 235.00 and paid 20.00 for a bung to be welded in, I installed it in 1 hour at no cost, so 265.00 for a functioning quality wideband is very worth it and should be one of your first mods, even before a Diablo especially if you want to get what you pay for out of tunes, you would be surprised at how rich alot are running out there on STOCK, DIABLO and CMR tunes by not knowing their A/F. Now if your needing to buy just one tire I could see what you mean

Piss on the connection. They are a bunch of d-bags.:D
So, you only installed a single sensor A/F? Now I know why you were able to do it so cheep. Why not go for the two sensor? Maybe then you would really know what was going on. Hate to tell you, but I am telling you the same advice one of our supporting vendors on here told me. That's how good they are. They don't sell you unnecessary stuff to make a buck.
CentralTexHemi 09-13-2008, 09:41 PM Also another good mod to have

Actually the driver side reading is just as good as reading both sides this too came from a very reputable vendor, plus your suggestion of getting readings on a dyno is only reading from the tailpipe so my driver side reading is just as good as that
