There is always something going on :D :D

We wanted to try smaller injectors, as the 90lb were a pain to tune. have been monkeying around with the transmission / X-fer case. I have been waiting out by the mailbox everyday for BuilderBill to send the Dana front diff ;) and Bryan is getting the nitrous hooked up with the direct port and throttle body unit. then it will be off the the new RDP Ohio location for some final massaging  That's the update!!

I'll check on the front diff.
My rig is still there on the lift.
Oh...they found a stock Ford set of 3:70 to replace that noisy Chinese gear set:mad: on the 9" Ford. I wish Mark at Western would have given me the option of a good gear set. You and I would have paid the extra couple hundred dollars, especially since we now paid for 2 friggen gear sets.
The front Dana 44 is a perfectly quite gear set.
They should have the front axles made from the 4340 by now. I'll run them over for Cryo. next. That process takes a few days.

Bill, I have the noisy Chinese set. I can live with it personally, the truck has way too much turbo going on under the hood for me to worry about gear lap. Are the chinese gears in any way shape or form not as strong as Ford gears?

PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!
Why the Hell were we not given the choice of Richmond from Western Diff?????
You and I have enough to do without tearing our rears apart......AGAIN!

When your Dana 44 arrives it will be a simple bolt in:), minus driveshaft in your case.

Actually, the problem is more gear NOISE  than breakage.
We won't break the 9" Ford with the 35 spline axles.

I'm not worried about breaking anything... the gear noise is just annoying. I'm going to switch to synthetic gear oil after 1000 miles of break-in and see if that will help.

I DID switch to the Royal Purple, bad idea, they will never break in with that lube.
Actually, for break-in the Lucas 85W-140 does a good job.
The accel side DID break-in, my coast side is taking forever as you certainly don't coast as much as you accelerate.
I would suggest you NOT changing to the synthetic before they are lapped in very well.
They will never lap in with the synthetic lube.

BTW...the main difference in differential gears is how long they are factory lapped.
Racing gears do not go through an extended lapping as do street gears, obviously because they are on LOUD race cars.
Funny, with the Richmond gears in the front Dana 44, it is as quiet as a church mouse.
BJB will be pleased and he sure won't break my 4340 Cryroed half shaft!
Now to get the front 4340 axles completed!
