I'm going to be trading in my 300C for either a Jeep SRT or the 300 SRT but I can't decide. I don't care about interior or price differences. I do care about 1/4 mile times, off the line acceleration, handling. Has anyone driven both?

Well there isn't an SRT car that can compete with the jeeps 0-60 except the viper.

At the moment most jeep owners are getting 13.1-13.3 1/4 times but with no more than 3000 miles on their trucks. Wait until the trucks open up with more millage. The performance mods are just coming out for the truck, so we don't know what the track times are yet with all the mods.

As for handling? We enter more of the biased area. 300cSRT8 owners who have driven the jeep say that the handling isnt as good as the 300csrt8. But I think it's because they drive it more like an SUV thinking "it's still an SUV" and don't really push it to it's full capability. I have personally pushed this truck to it handling limits and I have lost guys in sports cars behind me (and other srt's) in the twisties. You could seriously do 100 mph power slides in this thing with minimal body roll.

One thing you should consider is that you can't turn the ESP completly off (like in the other srts) in the jeep. So it does become a little anoying when it intrudes all the time.

One cool thing about the 300 is that it has incredible sleeper status.

Another thing to consider is that I have heard from people who have gone to the last couple months of the SRT Track Experience is that the driving instructors ask at the end what car the people found most impresive and the majority say it is the jeep.

All you can really do is find people who will let you take both out for a test drive.

The Jeep will win off the line every time, AWD & 3.73 gearing will do that for you. The 1/4 mile times will be very close as the 300C SRT8's superior aerodynamics allow it to recover the initial jump put on it by the Jeep. The 1/4 mile is really a driver's race. The Jeep SRT8 is taller, heavier & compared to the 300C SRT8 top-heavy, so the 300C SRT8 will likely prevail at the absolute handling limit. The amazing fact is how high the limit is for either of these vehicles. The 4700 lb. Jeep rounds the skidpad & slices through the slalom as quickly as sports cars did just a year or two ago. In the end buy the one that moves you, one's a gorgeous automobile, the other is a stunning SUV. You can't make a wrong choice here.

Thanks for the help. The jeeps are so scarce around here it's going to be hard to test drive it. How do you think the awd trannies are going to hold up on the jeeps?

Most dealers say your first test drive will be on the way home. These are selling way before they ever become test drivers.

It isn't a AWD trannie. It is the same 5-speed Mercedes built unit used for years, even in their AMG models, some with over 450 HP. The AWD transfer case is a hybrid Jeep sourced unit designed to handle the torque of the European diesel GC, well equipped for the high torque of the 6.1 Hemi.

I traded in an AWD 300C, not an SRT-8. I have driven the SRT-8 300Cs at the Track Experience. I also took hot laps with the instructors in both. They are both great and it's amazing what a pro driver can do with them. The 300C is a beautiful car but personally, I like the launch of the Jeep. Getting out of the hole quickly is much more important on the street. My group at the Track Experience preferred the Jeep as well. In fact, I was so impressed that I came home and bought mine as soon as they came out. Hooking up so easily is a nice change of pace from my truck which you really have to drive to maintain any kind of traction. I also really like the sleeper factor of the Jeep and have already had some fun with unsuspecting victims. But like someone said earlier, you can't make a wrong choice here, it's a win/win situation.

One big fact is the Jeep GC SRT-8 doesn't have the "Gas Guzzlers Tax" about $2100 added cost, traction isn't as good in the SRT-8 RWD as stated, hooking up is another problem as stated, the other side of the coin is a better exhaust system than the GC, but it can be improved, the PCM does limit some off idle power that the GC doesn't have but with a traction control disconnect device the GC can pick-up the mph a lot, both are great vehicles though. The Jeep is a better vehicle in wet or snow covered pavement but doesn't get as good a mileage as the RWD SRT-8 car. Some of these comparisons comes from talking to other owners and my own experience as a owner of a Jeep SRT-8. Good Luck on your choice though. MHO Gene

Any idea what the miles per gallon difference between the two is?
