Tried the caliper paint in the past...looked great for about a month. Was hoping to find a member looking for black calipers...maybe a vender that sells red calipers (take mine for cores).

get them coated professionally, any color you want. Probably cheaper than buying new also.

I used the G2 caliper paint kit. Lightly sand the black coating to rough it up, clean with dish detergent to degrease, and then brush on the caliper paint. The G2 is self leveling and dries nicely with a "plastic" coat feel. Purchase a set of Brembo caliper decas on ebay, apply them when the G2 paint dries, then spray them lightly with a high temp clear coat. I've done this on many cars and have never had an issue with the paint.

Jredd had some OEM's for sale, buy them get powder coated and swap them out. Zero down time. When done try selling your old ones.

Thanks, for sure my next mod.
BTW, what brand high temp clear did you used?

But it's a good idea for someone that uses his jeep as a DD.

If you can wait the 09's are going to be red you might be able to sell your black ones and buy the 09 red brembros for the jeep that way you know for sure they fit correctly, dont have to paint etc.. just a thought

^^Worked fine for me also^^ Only exception on my GC...I kept the black-and-red theme on the calipers also. I simply masked off the Brembo wording and painted around that section....so no clearcoating needed for mine. It's been over a year....no issues.

If you are lucky you can just find a Magnum SRT8 or a Charger SRT8 to trade with. I was lucky and found a local Charger to trade with even up.

I also used the G2 paint and the Brembo stencil. I used a Preval sprayer to spray them.
As long as you prep them well the G2 paint works and looks great. Here is a post of mine and they still look the same.http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16068

Thanks. I definately hope to do a track day with some fellow members at HRP this fall/winter.

Another option would even be the 1/8-mile track (HMP). I think we might have the "unfair" advantage there....lol. Cars/trucks that would normally chase us down at the end of the 1/4-mile wouldn't stand a chance there.....:D ...or at least I hope not.:)

Also, John hosts some pretty interesting events at LMP.

BTW, was it just a trade up exchange, no money involved? I'm asking because I can't imagine someone giving up the reds for the blacks...

Thanks!

Yes I traded with a black Charger who was going for the murdered look and did not want the red calipers. I also had a Magnum ready to trade who for what ever reason just did not like the red calipers either. When I posted that I was looking to trade there were probably six guys wanting my black calipers but only those two were local to me. We met at a local dealership and had them swapped out only cost me $60.00 for 1/2 the labor cost.

check the lx forums. I'm sure 90% of the members here hope someone is looking for a set of black ones as well.
