So I ordered two new bulbs from Steve because my passenger side fog light went out. Put new bulbs in, passenger side still dead.....

So I ordered a new Balast, put the new balast in MINUS the relay because everyone on here has said you don't need one.....it STILL does not work.....

What am I doing wrong? I just dug up some threads and people are saying you do not need relays yet they are still not working. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

You should track it down with a voltmeter. My driver's fog went out a couple days ago, and I presumed it was only the bulb. I put a voltmeter on it today and realized the ballast is bad also.

You need to track it from the source. First, check that the factory connector is actually providing power. If it is, swap the new ballast with the one of the side that is working to confirm the new ballast is working.

Dumb question BUT have you checked the fuse?

FIXED IT!!!!

I found in another thread where one guy says to "reverse the polarity" of the Xenondepot Xtreme HID plug. Well, I put my truck BACK on our lift in our shop and low and behold the plug was installed backwards. I pushed the two little pins out, flipped em around, and pushed em back in. Works like a charm now!!

Important FYI for anyone doing HID Fogs. I guess the relay somehow flips it for you? or are these plugs in fact being put together backwards?

My ebay kit has the polarity reversed also. I would of thought the more expensive kits would have gotten it right. Guess not.

Congrats on fixing it. :D

That's weired that you had to reverse the polarity on yoiur wires when you had the previous kit working already.

I assumed that you had done this for the previous kit. I had to do this for mine too.

I didnt have to reverse the polarity for my xenon depot kit. I also used a relay in my fog setup, can never be to safe, especially with electronics

Hi,

Our kits are designed to work with the relay harness which is why you had a problem.

If you have any questions/concerns though please send me a PM with your contact info and I would be more than happy to call you to discuss.

SteveSteve, I'm not sure I understand what you wrote above too well... Did Mango had a relay harness?
I'm getting relay harness with my kits, am I to expect a problem with the reversed polarity they are talking about too?

EDIT: Never mind I just read he didn't use the relay harness.
