This will be a points bracket event, we should get at least 2 time trials but usually we get 3, it all depends on how crowded it is.
If anybody plans on participating on more of the points events (which I think there's only 1 or 2 more events left this year), should sign up the sheet they'll be passing by.
It's a lot of fun, last year I end up in 2nd for the points, got a nice size trophy.
This year I have no idea how I'm doing in points yet, the last run for points should be in November.

I hope to meet a lot of you guys on the 20th.

Where in LI?....an acquaintance of mine runs a Cigg Boat called the Dry Martini out of Lamadas in Port Washington, NY

You can have a open face helmet.Here's more info on the 2008 helmet rule for Etown...

"NHRA rules for 2008 state that "any car running 14.00 and quicker in the 1/4 mile requires a Snell K98 or 2000 or newer OR SFI 41.1A helmet (see complete list below)". Also a new NHRA rule for '08 requires that "any car running 9.99 or quicker in the 1/4 mile requires an NHRA approved FULL face helmet with visor.

The NHRA 2008 Rule Book Reads as follows for Helmets and Goggles:
As outlined under Class Requirements, drivers in all classes, including motorcycles, must wear a helmet meeting Snell or SFI Specifications. Snell K-98 is acceptable in place of any Snell M-rated helmet.
SFI Spec 31.1A = Snell SA, open-face helmet
SFI Spec 31.2A = Snell SA, full-face helmet
SFI Spec 41.1A = Snell M, open-face helmet

They still rent those same helmets. The first time I went I rented the helmet and I looked at the production date of the helmet and it said 4/98. I strongly advise you to buy a helmet off of ebay.

I stole helmet from there accidently that I've been using....

I've been through all the nerve things when I had my mustang and was driving manual. Much more nerve racking when you always end up reving too high and spinning the wheels. I can't wait to take the beast and see the power it has down the 1/4 mile

13 or 13.1 i think. i was surprised, thought it'd be higher.

He doesn't run it in 2wd. He told me that he uses it to just smoke the tires and get them all sticky then switches it back to AWD.

HAHA Thats sweet- next time ill make sure my friends dont drink like maniacs the night before and go to bed at a reasonable hour- ahh the benefits of having a girl to go to bed with lol.

But I must have gotten a nice 60ft off of it right Joey? :D

Well I thought I was driving a little fast. When you got ahead on the road after we got off the exit to get to the track. But yes you did have a nice 60' there.


As far as events at E-Town I really want to do the Street Wars. I have to wake up extra early for that one.

I had this problem with my friends and getting to the track ALL summer. That's why I never made it down til last weekend ahahaha

I'll try to explain to the best of my knowledge and not a scientific explanation by all means, I'm sure others will know a better way to explain or google it and have a more detail explanation for you...

There is something we refer to as DA (Density Altitude), a neutral DA is 0 which is the equivalent to a sea level altitude (I believe).
That being said the higher the temps like in the summer would yield a positive DA day and slower 1/4 mile times. On cold days as in winter most likely it would yield negative DA days and much faster 1/4 mile times.
That's why we need to convert this times whether is in the positive or the negative to a baseline number which is the neutral sea level altitude or neutral DA zone.

I hope that helps to understand why some of us do the conversions.
