: jeep claims 0-60 in the rain under 5 seconds???

Not a chance in hell you could get one of these things to go fast from a dead stop in the rain. I had a TBSS AWD that would launch great in the rain because it was so much slower. This jeep is so touchy in the rain from the power, I don't see how they can claim in under 5 in the rain? Please explain....

I think Jeep states 0-60 in 5sec, wet or dry. Not necessarily while it's raining, that could make a difference. Mine doesn't break lose very easily.

I don' think there is a SRT8 jeep that could run from a dig in wet or rain to 60 in 5 seconds. I mean you guys realize how hard it is to keep the wheels from spinning in the dry. The wet is impossible as far as I'm concerned. Tried it yesterday in the rain and it was scary.

I hope you're spinning a front wheel during all this spinning, if you're not you may have a problem.

oh yeah the front wheels are spinning. The rears are impossible to get any traction. By the time you get traction the traction control kicks in and you are done. How is it possible to run form a dig to 60 in the rain at 5.0 seconds????

leave the traction control button on and try it

That's odd, I'd bet money even when stock mine did it.

What air pressure you running???

I'm not sure I never tried in the rain. The claims Jeep makes are probably backed by a perfectly prepped track, unlike the normal dirty/nonperfect streets. Or you just have a 525hp Jeep?

36's on the fronts and 34's on the rears. I have no mods on my truck. I'm surprised some have said they have no problems breaking loose on dry payment????? I spin my rears half way through first no matter what on dry. Maybe I have a problem?? I noticed in the rain I can not turn the truck at all in the rain and give it any gas without breaking the rear tires?? Maybe my rear differential is going bad???

Your truck without a doubt has a problem. My 0-60 times (via dashawk) are not too far apart from dry to wet. If you are spinning half way through first, you need to get to the dealer ASAP. If I mash the gas from a dig the tires chirp and then the truck is off like a rocket.

hmmmm... I don't have a chirp. The tires are spinning from a dig but it seems like the fronts are pulling the truck. I just thought the thing had a ton of power. That's what it feels like.

Same here, when my Jeep was new I timed 4.6 dry and 4.8 wet from Vericom meeter, and last year with some mods 3.5 dry and the next day 3.75 in the rain, it spins just a bit then hooks and goes. I only had the spinning issue when I was on the Predator version r16 or 18.

Some cats were experiencing excessive wheel spin and I believe it was something that could be corrected. In the rain I might see the wheels make it half way around under WOT and then the neck snapping hook catches. I would agree with the losing .2 and not too much more. We had massive amounts of rain in July and I was driving it hard everywhere to see if I could get the cone on the bwoody moist or even wet, and it hooked everytime. No moisture on the Bwoody either.

As far as spinning on dry pavement even when I had long tubes and ported heads it was just a chirp then goes like stink. Even in the rain it would spin maybe a .5 sec and then would hook and go.

You TBSS must not have had much done to it... with a stall and bolt ons they launch about the same... wet or dry.

....believe it or not.........under 4 in the RAIN.
3.5 dry, 2.7 spraying a 200 shot.

Also.......if you spin in the rain, the Dashawk will not be accurate.

I used to regularly click off under 4.5s in the rain.....I leave buttons alone, autostick it, and have the IATs higher.....
I don't punch it to the floor in first for a very brief nano-second.
If it is really cold in the rain where the trucks are sucking super cold air won't pull best 0-60s.
You can get better 0-60s in the rain if truck is hotter...where as it is applying much less actual HP/Tq.

Now when I dry launch, I push Mr. Squiggles, autostick, make sure the temps are 40*, and IATs are close......flat punch as hard as I can.

yo medic...!! I PM'd you and never heard back.... ha...

thats exactly what I was thinking... not sure where the rain came into the equation...

think this dude is gone but was he really questioning if these rigs can really go 0-60 in under 5 seconds..?

my girlfriend pulled a 5.02 0-60 a few weeks back... lots of gas in the tank... 2 others in the car... and after the topic came up again the other day I just found out it was raining out!!

AND BTW..... she is 5' 3" so she cant even put the pedal to the floor... lol

had efans, dyno tune, corsa sport, ud pulley ect... It was nothing like this jeep stock. The TBSS guys have to realize they are outgunned big time. Just sell those SS's and get into a jeep. You will be so much happier and not even have to spend an extra dime on fixing the thing. no offense

I'm not gone. Just really busy with my life and business. I was basically saying that there is now way these things can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds in "WET", "RAIN", "OIL" or anything else slick. It just has too much snap off the line and is just way to awesome and powerful. I still believe this. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. lol

I agree with you. I'm running 4.10-4.20 in the dry, but when its wet, forget about it. Yeah, she'll hook, but she's not getting to 60 in 5 seconds.

I hate driving her in the rain. always feels like she's gonna bite me in the ass. The stock GoodYears are probably most of the problem, but the lack of a mechanical LSD certainly doesn't help.

If you run a slightly modded Jeep and are still in the 13s, then yes...you are correct, YOU won't hit those figures.

The key word is wet. In the rain, no it won't. I tried it last night when it was wet, rears slipped and then hooked quickly, so I think a 4.9 or less is achievable.

NOT A CHANCE, live in Illinois and when its cold and wet out, its scary. No way in hell 0-60 in under 5, my jeep breaks loose hitting it at 40mpg and you have to let off, better yet for the line??? Im still wondering what special tires do you have that i dont?

I am in the Chicago area, had 2 Jeep SRT's, and never had a problem in the snow, as long as it was less than 8". It handles the rain equally well...I think you meant 40MPH and not MPG.....Most of the Jeeps will only chirp the tires, even when it is wet out. I believe it will do it wet or dry.
