I was wondering the same thing. Mine only seems to stay on for about 2 minutes, but there could be reason for this. I'm sure the SRT Engineers know whats best for our vehicles.

There is a programing problem - it is supposed to run for 15 minutes. My 07 does just that so 2 minutes is an error in the program time. I'm assuming you are not unlocking it after you remote start. Once you do that you only have 1 minute to put the key in the ignition or it will shut down

Also if you try to certian other things the engine will shut down.

most remote start systems kill the engine if you step on the brake before you put the key in the ignition also (so that the car can't be put into gear and driven away without the key)

the jeep wont do that, but if you rev past 2500rpm it will kill it.

you cant put it into gear, gearbox is locked

2min? that's not even worth starting your vehicle on a cold morning. gotta be a problem. my aftermarket remote start will run for 15 min before it kills it. and mine will die with the brake and the throttle being pushed

There is a way to adjust the time it stays started for. But you got to get to the main control box for the remote start. Dealer should be able to adjust it.

What kind of range are you guys getting when using the 07 remote start keyfob? on wkjeeps, for the mopar unit, it says 800 ft, but on the stock 07, I'm not getting consistent distances...

Same deal here, about 2 minutes......I don't even bother using it.

Nobody has any idea of how to possibly adjust this?

If there is a way, someone has to know. :)

My dealer "reset" the system for me when I had the truck in for it's first oil change. It should run for about 15 minutes before shutting off. It will only run for 60 seconds after you start it, and unlock a door. So be sure to put your key in the ignition quickly after you press the unlock button. :D

Mine runs for 15 minutes.Just make sure once you open any door you can put the key in within 60 seconds.Good Luck

What would be nice is a confirmation light or beep to confirm it started. How else does anyone know it is on?

I have it set to honk when arming so when you remote start it honks twice. That and I usually here the roarrrrrrrrrrrrr come from the garage.

I hear the roar as well, but if I am in a restaurant or somewhere a little out of earshot or view, I am left wondering if it started. I know some of the aftermarkets beep back a confirmation.

I have the horn off, but will try that. I turned it off because the horn honked too loud. Now I see a benefit to this...

You don't hear a thunderous ROAR when it starts?!?! It wakes my neighbor up at 5am when I start it every morning! :D :D I guess you're still running the stock exhaust.

Range is definitely inconsistent.

My range varies a lot, too. Sometimes, I can be standing right next to the truck and it won't activate the starter. Found a TSB on wkjeeps, #08-003-07. I'm taking mine in Monday for that and a plethora of other issues.

I tried the remote start to see how long it would run. It ran just about 15 minutes before it stopped. I have a 2007 I bought in January.

I also own an 07 and the remote starter runs for about 15 min. No problems with mine although I accidently opened the rear window with the remote this morning and found out that the remote starter wasn't doing it's job. I'm assuming this must be a safety feature so that the inside of the vehicle doesn't get filled with all the exhaust fumes from the tail pipes. Considering their location it makes sense to me. Once I closed the rear window, my jeep started up with the remote as it usually would.

Smart assumption b/c that is correct. Says in the manual it will not start if any of the doors are open.

maybe it is just my imagination but it seems like the remote start does not work if i am moving when i hit the buttons. i can be 10 feet away and walking towards the vehicle and it does not start. if i stop moving, it starts right up from long distances.

If you are moving towards the vehicle, the manual states to jump up and down on your left leg.

One thing you do have to do is hit the lock button before you use the remote start feature, otherwise it will shut off very quickly.

kramsay1234

it locks the door before it will start. are you saying there is a difference if you lock the doors separately then hit remote start vs just hit remote start?? If so, that would seem strange, but can't say I have ever tried to find out.

I have tried all kinds of different ways and it didn't make much of a difference.I unlocked the doors and then started. What it did was lock the doors again and then start.I can hit the lock button then start 2 times, or just hit the start 2 times and it starts.Who knows?

I use my remote start every time because its been so cold.

It will start doors locked or unlocked. It will even start when the rear window is open but if you open the rear window after starting the remote start the car will stop. Its actually a very smart system.

I am not sure of the total time, but yesterday the wife and I went to the grocery store. Just after exiting the vehicle, she remote started the car, and we went inside to pick up a few items.

Car still running when we went back outside.

Definitely longer than 2 minutes.
