This is a common problem happening to a lot of us. Take it to the dealer for inspection. Take some pictures before you bring it in. I brought mine in, they touched it up by hand and added clear coat, it looks OK but I will be requesting re-paint soon. The problem is I didn't take pictures so I cannot show how bad it used to be. You have to get real close to even see the issue now. But the "by hand" touch up is noted on my receipt from the dealer service so I should be OK. It's really unfortunate SRT owners have to deal with this.

i think the problem is that the 06 SRTs have the bumper half painted, half bare black plastic... so it makes an edge to the paint where it can start peeling

maybe that's why they decided to spray the 07 bumpers completely

Bought my new Black 06 about a month ago and it was built in April. It already had 3M clear bra installed on the face or lower half of the bumper and it still looks perfect. I'm watching it closely but this might be a potential solution for those who haven't had the condition show up yet.

BS from that dealer. This is a very common problem. Go to the dealer, and nicely tell him that you are aware that he has to take digital pics of the area and submit them to DCX for approval before a re-paint is performed. You would like the pics taken, submitted for approval and the work performed when said approval is received. Tell him you are also aware that it takes a while for DCX to get back to them sometimes, but you figure a week to ten days ought to be sufficient. Do not take no for an answer. Be courteous but firm. Many have had that work performed. Search this forum and the blue site, and print out a few examples if you want.

Yes, they should take the pictures at the service dept and they will submit them to the digital imagining unit...and you should have the entire bumber reshot.

What dealership in the Chicago area are you dealing with? I got mine from Rohrman in Buffalo Grove, and they are great.

i have this problem right now and i have gotten nowhere with the dealer or dcx. to complicate matters i bought it out of state. dealer tells me to bring it in to be looked at. driving to another state isn't really practical. local dealers have refused to help me. i called dcx and they told me to piss off and hung up on me. if i wasn't such a rational person i would drive this thing through the front window of the dealer on fire and see how they like that.

so, anyway i'm sitting here writing this while still losing paint daily from my bumper. at some point i may have to give in and pay for the repairs myself. i think at that point i will also make a point to tell every person i meet to never buy a dcx product.

it's sad that i spent ~90k with dcx in the past few months and this is how they treat me. if anyone here knows a dcx employee please kick them in the groin for me when you see them.

btw, i have shown them threads on the boards about this problem and they don't care.

Call the 900 number again. You just got an idiot. You have several options on the menu...Hit the number when they ask if it is an SRT. THe folks I had spoken to were all great.....Do not give up. You will get it resolved.

i did enter the option for srt. i got some lady named shelley. she started out being helpful and then it declined from there. i posed the question to her that if she bought a car in florida then moved to california and it needed repair and the dealer told her she'd have to bring it back to florida would she think that was normal and appropriate and she said yes. then she asked if there was anything further she could do for me and hung up before i could answer. great service dcx!
