Whats up guys?I have an 07 silver, anyway i got my two front windows tinted today and my brother inlaw owns the shop its a glass /tint/stereo shop he told me my driver and passenger glass wasn't laminated glass he has done a few of these trucks some had laminated and some didn't.To tell the difference between the two, the laminated with the window rolled down on top looks like two peices of glass stuck together with a protected film in between so if the window breaks the film holds eveything together witch makes it harder to break into.He also said it is harder to tint because if they put heat on it can possibly crack. The tempered glass looks like one solid peice and might be harder to break but when it breaks there is no window left and glass is everywhere? He looked in the book and there is two part#s Laminated and non laminated.Just wondering who has it and who does'nt,because I feel like they cheaped out to save a few bucks by putting non laminated.Just something else to look into.:D

lots of new vehicles are doing that, also its not any harder to tint, he prolly just wanted to charge you more or make you think he is better than he is, ha

I thought they never laminated side windows so you wouldn't break your neck if your head hit it too hard.

I have laminated glass in one of my cars. I love it. It really keeps the noise out. I would put it in another car in a heartbeat if it was an option, or I could get it at a reasonable price. The bad guys don't know that your glass is laminated, and will smash it anyways. But on a side note, if either one is broken in any way, you would have to replace it. Having glass all over is a pain to get out, but not too dangerous. The tint will hold your glass together also.

DCX started using laminated glass on the 2004 Durango. It is spec'd for the 2005-up Grand Cherokee models (except Lardeo). My early build 2006 SRT8 has it. If you look in the lower right corner of the window it will say "laminated". Laminated glass is good for about 6db of interior noise reduction plus blocks about 95% of UV rays. Also much better for security, much better than tempered with tint.

The parts book lists both laminated and tempered for the Limited and SRT models, with some unknown change to the glass in January 2006. I'd be curious to hear from other SRT8 owners to see if they have it or not, and if not what their build date is.
