Hey guys, I am very happy to say that I picked up my 06' Cherokee SRT8 yesterday morning.

The power and handling amaze me for a vehicle of it's size and weight.

I spent 4 hours last night with a couple of my friends, blasting around back roads and the highway. They were all very shocked that it was a Jeep, let alone a STOCK jeep :D

I have a few questions:
-I didn't notice the car has no bright pedals, just regular looking ones. The jeep was bought from a normal Jeep dealer fully certified under extended coverage warranty for 8 years. Do you think they would send me a new set, or am I SOL since all the paper work is said and done.

-Also, the gas cap on the tank doesn't lock, anyone could remove it if they wanted to. Is this how it is supposed to be?

-What's the best way to keep the stock wheels looking new, what sort of treatment/maintaince should I do besides just soap and water.

Any more tips for a new owner would be appreciated, although I have been scouring the forums all morning for as much information as possible.

Thanks

edit: i'll post pics later once I wash her. I was doing donuts last night in a dirt parking lot and I already got her a little dirty :p

Welcome, The Gas cap is normal, and with gas prices the why they R ,you can invest in a locking cap, On My Rims I use Soap and Water and i wax them just about every time i wash her, which is all the time, lol. Not sure if the Bright pedals where standard on the 06's and since you dont have them i guess not, There are some threads on here about that, use the search button. This is a great forum with some really cool people im sure they will chime in. Again Welcome GCSRT8

Welcome! Where in NY are you from? I live in upstate NY near rochester.

I use a gentle 3 finger mit to wash the face of my wheels, and use a long handled wheel brush to get the inside of the wheels. I usually use Groits brand everything when I wash my car, but that's just a matter of preferance.

What color is your ride?

The best advice I could give to a fellow SRT owner is... Break out you're wallet, because these things are fun to drive, but even more fun to mod!

O6's do come with the pedals. I had to put mine on myself. No lock on the gas cap. For the wheels I just use soap and water with a different mitt at the end of the car wash.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice.

I am in Westchester County NY, about 20 North of White Plains, or 45 minutes from Manhattan if I take the Taconic. People who live down state from me usually call where I live upstate, though its really not quite. You have to go a bit further North for true upstate.

Here are the pics. Sorry that only 2 of them are high resolution. I took most of them during the day right after I washed it, and I wasn't aware that the camera was on VGA quality mode.

But the first two do it justice I think.

Everything is stock as far as I can tell, except for the tints, chome gas cover, and tail light chome accents. They were already on the car when I bought it. On rear right tail light, the chrome accent is starting to fall off. So I went to the auto parts store and bought some 3M car badge adhesive to fix it later.

I am not sure, but is that a Mopar CAI on my engine? I don't know it wasn't listed in the features but it does look like it.

I'll post some more pics sometime when I can get near some better scenery. :D

Oh and DevssrT, I actually bought it from a dealer in Long Island yesterday morning. Over in Greenvale.

I love it!!! Oh, that's because I own the same make, model, year, and color. My advice is to remove that chrome trim from the taillights, but it's not my Jeep.

Here's what we've had success with:

1) Buy a Diablosport Predator and
2) PM member "gotstroked" and inquire about a CMR tune or

3) get in on the Vortech Supercharger group buy Andy, aka "Gotstroked" is selling.

Happy driving,

Anthony

It seems as though the chrome additions are receiving quite a bit of negative feedback. I didn't buy or add any of it. Everything is as it was sitting in the Jeep lot. I'm curious as to what everyone's opinion is of chrome additions like the tail lights and the light cover. Do you think it's trying to hard, cheesy, messes with perfection that can't be improved upon etc? I can kind of understand not liking the lights, but I personally think the cover matches perfect and add a little something more.

As far as the exhaust, it's funny because I never even noticed that it's different than the stock one until 2BADGN mentioned it. It's really loud though, sounds like a beast pouncing on it's prey.

I had just assumed that everything on the Jeep was stock since it's pre-certified with warranty and all.

Ah, well either way I will post some pics at a higher res of the exhaust sometime tomorrow night and maybe you guys can tell me which one it is.

As far as the wheel locks go, do you have any in particular that you recommend? I saw something about MCGard locks on the forum. Locks wouldn't invalidate the warranty in some way would it? I'm open to all suggestions.

Edit: I went downstairs to look and it says "Zoomers" on the tailpipe.

Nice looking truck, welcome aboard. Yeah, I am not a big fan of all the chrome either, but I am completely blacking mine out, so of course I don't want it, hahaha!
