They can mark the price up as high as they want. The question is whether people will pay it or go elsewhere. Right now, I think the dealers that are marking up SRTs are going to have a hard time selling them because there are a lot of them sitting on dealer lots right now. I paid a small markup to get mine back in early 06 but I wouldn't do it now.

Very true, but look at his location. These cars a hot commodity in foreign markets. He may have to pay the mark-up.

Actually, depends on location.....near me, most incoming GC SRTs sell before they come in or sold soon after being in stock.

No question about it, they are still a hot item.

Yes, Dealers do that all the time,2007 Shelbys =$65,000 plus, about $20,000 dealer markup, When I bought my G.N. back in late 1987,I wanted a GNX bad, but would not spend the $55,000 that the dealers wanted, bastards. Hindsite, they sale for more now,and still want one. Generally, dealer markup is whatever the market will bear.

Dealers must assume everybody has deep pockets. Find another dealer to work with, RANDALL NOE in DALLAS, supposedly the #1 dodge dealer in north america,at least thats what they say.I know there showroom was filled with vipers,srt-10's,srt8 300c's ,my gc srt8 an untitled prowler and a ford GT, they sell fords also.

Behairy..where are you? Are you in Cairo? Or perhaps are you on a junket in Vegas right now?

The dealer in Vegas is nuts....you buy the vehicle, arrange you're own shipping if taking it home. More info on your question is needed. There is no need to pay a "mark up", "addendum", "value added" or any other kind of BS increase if purchased in the States.

The purchase was arranged by a friend of mine...He is the biggest importer of luxury and exclusive cars here in Egypt ... He was there during the time of delivery and he was shocked by the very high markup value... He asked many dealers in different states and there were no 07s ready for delivery ... some quoted even 15K $ above sticker :p ... anyway it ended up 7.5K over MSRP... anyway I won't be charged for the extra sum as the deal was already closed... The car should be shipped soon ... :)

Damn, in the Chicago area they are discounting....lots off the 06's, and several grand off the 07's. call one here and have them arrange to ship it to you

I don't understand how the dealerships get away with the markup. When I bought my 06 SRT, it was marked up 5k. After 1 hour I talked them under MSRP. And then when I picked it up I talked them down another 1k. As soon as they agreed on the final price I handed over the cheque.

This takes me back to my economics class.
Its all about supply and demand. The aggravating factor with the SRT8 is "HYPE"

In my area the dealer knew nothing about the SRT8. I knew much more and got the 07 under MSRP

However I've noticed in some areas the dealers know about the SRTs and so do the customers. It drives the market!

If you are willing to shop around you should not have to pay more than MSRP;)

It wasn't like that about 6 months ago. I live in Northwest Indiana and a lot of our dealers were charging the same $5K Chicago marketing insentive that dealers in Illinois were charging. I'm glad to hear it's not going on anymore. I got mine right at sticker.
