Can someone tell me where the stock tweeters are located? A pic would be even better. WKjeeps.com just says they are in the instrument cluster.

They are located on top of the instrument panel, in each corner. You can see the grille for the driver side tweeter in this photo:

Thanks for the pic. Has anyone used a component set and put the mid bass in the door and tweeter up on the dash in the stock location? They will have to be on a seperate amp than the factory one, but just curious is anyone had done this yet. I had a similar setup in my 98 5.9 and I thought that it sounded pretty good.

installed Focal three way splits, midbass in doors - 4 inch midrange in corners of dash - tweeters installed in A pillar trim pieces all run of factory amp.
Focal two way co-axials in rear doors, million dollar improvment in sound stage and clarity. Bass has easily doubled but that might also have to do with dynamating all doors.

Focals are my speaker of choice too. I have four 6.5" in my 04 limited along with a stealth box. The sound is clear as a bell. I'll be doing the same in my srt next month. Except no stealth box for the 2005-2007's yet. So I'll have a custom box made for 2 12's".

Thanks for the input. What do you think about if I put a 3 way up front (6.5" mib-bass, 6.5" mid-range, and tweeter) in the front, and then another set of 6.5" mid-bass in the rear doors? This will have an awesome front stage and I am still on the fence about the rear mid-bass. I have a few options that I am playing with. I am planning on using the Kicker SX line of amps and their SS line of components. Here are my options.

Option 1:
Kicker SX900.4 or SX700.4- have CH 1&2 run the 6.5" SS components and use the supplied x-over. Use CH 3&4 to run the 6.5" mid-bass drivers using the built in digital x-over on the amp. This is all up front and will have to build some custom pods for the drivers.

Option 2:
Same as above but instead have the mid-bass drivers in the rear doors. This may sound funny though from up front.

Option 3:
Kicker SX700.4- CH 1&2 run front tweeters, CH 3&4 run front mid-range.
Kicker SX900.4- CH 1&2 run front mid-bass, CH 3&4 run rear mid-bass in the rear doors. In this option I don't use the supplies x-overs but use the active x-overs in the amps.

Sub:
Kicker SX650.1- Running a 13W6v2 in a sealed enclousure.

I am sort of leaning toward option 3 because of the active x-overs, but I would save some weight by going with option 1. The difference in price between the two is not a factor.

I am looking for a really great sounding daily driven SQL setup.

Here are the specs on the mentioned equipment.
SX700.4- 82 X 4 @13.8V
SX900.4- 107 X 4 @13.8V
SX650.1- 650 X 1 @2ohm 13.8V

Am I crazy or overdoing things? I will be sound deadening the entire jeep as well. I am also most likely going to be using the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 head unit also.

I am open to any suggestions to a good 3-way setup. Price point being around $500. This may be a better option yet and I would not have to use a second amp.

Dude why dont you just wait till you have your truck. That way you can understand it and then start to do things to it....asking us simple questions like where are the tweeters in nonsense.....get the truck, look at it, and then figure out what you are going to do....

LOL, hey I understand if there is some frustration in my posts. You have to understand that I sold my 5.9 before coming over here to Iraq. Looking forward to coming home and buying a new SRT8 is part of what keeps me motivated over here. Since there are no new jeeps in Iraq, I ask some simple questions so that I may continue the mod planning process. I would hope that members here would understand my situation and offer help when asked. I know that many of you have an I appreciate it!

Derek I can't help with your question, as I don't have mine yet either (very soon).

But I myself (and I'm sure others) perfectly understand where you are coming from. I'm sure you want out of the sandbox asap, if asking questions and posting here makes the time go by quicker for you.....post away my friend.

I used JL ZR components in factory locations in the front, tweeters in the dash and mids in the doors, you will need to build a plate of some sort because the factory door speakers are 6x9's. JL XR Components in the rear doors. JL 10w6v2's x3 in a box I made. powered by JL 450/4 and JL 1000/1.
rear doors...I surfaced mounted the tweeter because I was scared to cut huge holes in the doors, although I may as it would look much better flush mounted.
