SilverSRT-8 11-26-2006, 02:48 PM SWEET!!! Get the Supercharger and you will be even faster....for way less than a Lambo
Black_SRT8 11-26-2006, 02:49 PM Thanks for sharing!
The subtitles really classed up the video.
hesperus 11-26-2006, 03:09 PM thanks!
the Jeep is pretty much my daily driver, so I don't want to risk anything by modding it. It is one of only 3 JGC SRT's in my country, so nobody really knows how to service it if anything should go seriously wrong. The sole Daimler-Chrysler dealer had no intentions of importing them, but I managed to convince him bring a pair in on special order basis.
The 2nd one remains unsold, the 3rd is a grey market import brought in by a friend of mine.
Its pretty quick already as-is anyway. :)
matty 11-26-2006, 06:37 PM wow......by the way what did it cost you to get it there after all was said and done (jeep+shipping).........if you dont mind telling?????

Don't feel bad-seems no one here in the US knows how either...;)

Nice convoy! Sorry if I missed it, but what country is that? Who serviced the Lambo and the GT3?
El Jefe 11-26-2006, 08:37 PM That Lambo vid was awesome! Keep em coming!!
hesperus 11-26-2006, 09:08 PM Don't feel bad-seems no one here in the US knows how either...;)
hahaha! that was a good one! at least i don't feel too bad now. I've always loved JGC's... I owned a 4.0 Laredo and 5.2L GC Limited (both two body styles back I believe) when I was living in MA back in graduate school.
when I saw the first pictures of the SRT, i was floored immediately.
I live in the Philippines. There is no Lambo dealer here, but there's a pretty well set-up Porsche dealer. The Lambo is serviced by independent outfits. There are 3 Murcielagos in the country.
Hmmm... my Jeep is a rare as a Murcie. Go figure :D
Shipping over the car is not what makes it expensive here, its the local import taxes. The landed cost comes to just under $US 80k.
But then again, a Cayenne Turbo costs the equivalent of $US 160k. so the relative price is maintained.
will post new videos as I get around to it. i'm a bit of a track (circuit, not dragstrip) whore, so the Jeep doesn't get much action when I do that. But for running around town, it is unbeatable!!!
Mrdredd 11-26-2006, 09:27 PM Those videos were shot in PHL?
What city?
I like to visit Makati and surrounding cities a bit

from Makati exiting Manila southbound.
Mrdredd 11-26-2006, 09:46 PM awesome, never had the chance to drive myself in manila

its crap really. poor surfaces, lots of traffic, slow cars in the passing lane, generally not very conducive to performance driving.
you have to go out of town (which is where we were going in the video) and out of the city to find any halfway decent roads.
Street WK 11-26-2006, 10:23 PM Not worried about cops? Or no speed limits?
Mrdredd 11-26-2006, 10:24 PM Dont worry about cops, just carry cash, lol
I once had a cop over there try to write my driver a ticket ... the ticket was written on the back of a McDonalds receipt with a fine amount listed ... i folded the receipt around a $50 USD bill and dropped it out the window and left ... he picked it up and went on his way.
Street WK 11-26-2006, 10:26 PM That corrupt, eh?
Mrdredd 11-26-2006, 10:31 PM Man, most of PHL rocks if you're white and have money ... just don't go to far South
You could have a hell of a time on a budget though ... $5k a person will get you the most fun you've ever had ... $1500-$2000 round trip ticket, and $3000 spending cash ... best if you bring atleast 1 buddy with you, but 2 or 3 makes for A CRAZY time (each with their own $5k).
You'll have enough for about a week of straight fun ... beaches, drinking, clubs, girls, girls, drinking, clubs, girls, clubs, drinking, girls, clubs, clubs, girls, drinking, trips to differant islands
hesperus 11-26-2006, 10:36 PM Not worried about cops? Or no speed limits?
its a banana republic. there are speed limits and traffic laws which nobody obeys anyway (buses stop wherever they please to pick up passengers, even on the highway; people don't understand the concept of a "fast" or "passing" lane; pedestrians cross highways because there are hardly any elevated walkways, etc etc etc).
and the cops are either crooked (though thankfully this seems to be getting a bit better,) or won't bother trying to pull over a shiny new porsche or ferrari. in any case, they don't have police cars, so if they don't catch you at the stoplight, they move on to nab someone else.
its a double edged sword really. the absence of traffic enforcement means that if you wanted to, you could virtually drive however you want with little fear of getting a ticket or fined or suspended. the lambo in the video has regularly done 180+mph on the public highway, but only very early on sunday mornings when the roads are totally clear.
but at all other times, and on regular roads, there are too many unpredictables that make high speed motoring quite unsafe.
it was quite exciting when i was younger, but now we go to the racetrack regularly to get our speed fix.
cheers!
