: Anyone looked at the price of OEM replacement tires lately?
HoustonSRT-8 08-03-2008, 01:11 AM Roughly 1 - 1½ weeks ago, I priced OEM rear tires at TireRack.com and they came in right around $600 for the pair. Today, I was looking at tires and the price has increased to $840 for the pair!! One big WTF!?!?!?
Grip Grip 08-03-2008, 01:13 AM That's crazy! Over $400 a tire isn't going to happen on my budget.

No bull. I budgeted $600 this month for new rear tires. Now I have to take $250 from something else.
HoustonSRT-8 08-03-2008, 01:36 AM Just looked at Discount Tire's website.....$303/ea. Sounds like TireRack can take a long walk off a short pier.
OurZoo 08-03-2008, 01:37 AM That is crazy. Lol Steve.
WBSRT 08-03-2008, 06:49 AM Yeah Tire rack its nuts all four = 1626.00 Discount tire way better 1181.00,& thats including the tire protection, which i never buy. Im surprised at the difference I always got my tires at the rack, o well not anymore.
HoustonSRT-8 08-03-2008, 10:46 AM I'm gonna e-mail TireRack & see if they'll match Discount since I don't have to pay TireRack tax. ;)

Why are you going OEM again???
Are you some sort of masochist?
HoustonSRT-8 08-03-2008, 11:00 AM Why are you going OEM again???
Because OEM was $100/ea cheaper than everything else until I found the Bridgestone Dueler HPs a few minutes ago in the 315/35 variety. They are cheaper with a better treadwear rating. As long as I find some positive reviews about them and confirmation that they fit with Eibachs, I'll be getting those.

44k and I've had it since 18k. I have literally driven the tread off the rear tires. I'll post a pic tonight. :D
Get$$$Man 08-05-2008, 10:40 AM My rear tires needed replacing and my father without consulting me paid around 780 I think for two.
This really bugs me for two reasons: I wish he would have consulted me before purchasing them and two because I hate to see him spend that money when there is better options out there for cheaper.
He's not to much of a car guy and believes like a lot of people that all work on a car should be done at a dealer and OEM because their the only ones that know their own machines.
I wish I coulda saved us some money all together and gotten some other brand.
LRChariot 08-05-2008, 11:28 AM Check SGWheelsonline.com They have the rears for $249.00 each. The website is a little "clunky", scroll to page 10 on the new tires section.

I will probably get the oem tires again as well,as much as I hate them, just so I can go on a road trip and not freak out if i get a flat in the middle of nowhere.

HoustonSRT-8 08-08-2008, 09:40 PM Got the Bridgestones on tonight. I'm a little worried about the clearance between the inner sidewalls and the swaybar endlink bolts, so we'll see.

2BADGN 08-08-2008, 10:48 PM Nice. Hey did you get an alignment since the Eibachs. It looks like your rear tires are going inwards. Maybe it is just the pic.;)
NeverFastEnough 08-08-2008, 10:52 PM THICK! Damn they look great Houston! Any probs with rubbing the fenderwell and/or the links??

It's just the pic. The fronts are the ones that are slightly inward.

Razorecko 08-08-2008, 11:00 PM If you are still on stock links you wont have any issues.

How bad is the rubbing with the Bwoody links?? And is there anything you can do to adjust it if it is??
Razorecko 08-08-2008, 11:12 PM Yep just get these bolts instead for the rears..

Will these bolts fit the stock endlinks?
Razorecko 08-09-2008, 12:02 AM ^ yep, the bolts are a little long so you'll have to cut them down about 1/2in.
HoustonSRT-8 08-12-2008, 10:22 AM Guess what? I need front tires now. :boohoo:

That sucks! Are you able to find them for the fronts or are they on backorder too? Fronts worn or is the ride bad??
HoustonSRT-8 08-12-2008, 10:30 AM That sucks! Are you able to find them for the fronts or are they on backorder too? Fronts worn or is the ride bad??
Front inner is worn, just the the original set.
I haven't looked yet to see who has stock.
rumplemenz 08-12-2008, 05:21 PM in all i guess going up to 315 in the rear isnt really that drastic.. its about 1 1/4" wider...when my tire search starts only thing im concerned about is if i go the 315/35 route the overall diameter of the wheel will be a tad smaller... about .15 inches...
does anyone think that may compromise the traction control or the overall performance of her? just curious

Not in the least.
Prepare2Win 08-13-2008, 12:41 AM Looks like you had that distinctive irregular wear pattern on the inside edge of the rears also? Does that groove go all the way around, or just part way where the belts are showing?
HoustonSRT-8 08-13-2008, 10:18 AM All the way around
rumplemenz 08-13-2008, 06:29 PM Not in the least.
but when the diameter of a wheel changes doesnt that compromise the gearing ratio's?
HoustonSRT-8 08-15-2008, 12:54 AM but when the diameter of a wheel changes doesnt that compromise the gearing ratio's?
A quarter inch difference between the OEM size and the 315s is not going to make much difference, IMO.
OEM GY's are on sale now, $275 for fronts from my dealer. FYI.
SRT8 4 J 09-30-2008, 04:58 PM That's crazy! Over $400 a tire isn't going to happen on my budget.
