Anyone having one of those really crappy finishes to the week?

I went outside to warm up my Jeep this morning before leaving for work (it's -15 degrees Celsius in Calgary with snow everywhere) and find that my right front tire is flat!

So I get my dad to drive me to work and spend the first hour in my cube tracking down a tire shop that deals with Goodyear EMT tires. Find a shop in the south end of the city that'll easily repair it so I ask about bringing it in after work tonight. The response is that they won't start fixing it until monday since their EMT repair guy is out for the weekend! So I'm without a vehicle for the weekend so far!

Edit: Whats the length of Goodyear's warranty on runflat tires?

Edit: NM

Goodyear EMT info from the warranty on their website:

WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG?
1. FREE REPLACEMENT
Any new Goodyear Run-Flat EMT tire removed from service
due to a covered warranty condition or rendered not
repairable due to a road hazard injury during the first 2/32"
treadwear or 12 months from date of purchase, whichever
occurs first, will be replaced at no charge. Mounting and
balancing are included. Repairable punctures will also be
repaired at no charge during this period. Without proof of
purchase, date of manufacture will be used to determine age.

my sympathies. I just moved out of calgary a few months ago and only saw 2 str8's in town for the year htat i lived there 1 red and 1 black, is one of them you?

I live in Indaina now and just got snow tires and have been itching for snow to test them on. I know dont NEED snow tires but hated how it handles on rain so fiquired why drive like an old lady for the next 6 months (especially since I just got mine 3 weeks ago) and have some fun with better traction. anyway thats got nothing to do with your problem but think about getting some snow tires, but read up on this site re: issues with snow tires b4 jumping in like I did.

So is there a special method to repairing holes in the emt tires? I recently found a hunk of metal in mine and pulled it out. It left a house nail size hole. just put a plug in it and now have about 2000 miles. I figured the sidewalls are what is important on these tires, not the main tread area.

As far as I know there are 2 inferno red SRT8s in calgary so far, one of which being mine.

So I stuck the Jeep into the garage over the weekend, filled the tires up to 35 psi and left it for 2 days. When I checked again, they were still at 35 psi. I thought the leak may have been cold related, so I filled them up to 40 psi and parked the Jeep outside in the -20 degree celsius weather. Upon checking 8 hours later both front tires were flat. The rear tires were still at 30 psi.

I'm pretty annoyed so I'm phoning the dealership tomorrow to raise some hell and see what they can do about it. They may not handle tire issues but now I've got a Jeep that I cannot drive and no other way to get to work outside of bumming a ride off of family or friends. Meanwhile I'll also get a tire shop to order in new front tires under the goodyear warranty.

It could possibly be an issue with the valve stems not sealing properly when cold...

I was thinking that as well, but last time I had that problem on one of my trucks it was only a concern if I physically checked the pressure while the valves were cold. They then wouldn't reseal. If I left them they were fine.

I live in Calgary as well, there are a few of these beasts here. I am aware of 4 black, 1 silver and 2 inferno Reds. There should be another 07 Silver one here by now as I ordered one back in July as my 06 got cancelled. I ended up stumbling upon a Black 06 fully loaded at Eastside one night. Got there at 8:50pm. All I had to do was sit in it and rev it up once. SOLD. I ended up cancelling my 07 and some guy in line jumped on it.

Oh nice! I picked mine up at Varsity but I get all my parts from Eastside since it's closer.

I also live in Calgary, and am having the same problems with my wife's black SRT8 GC.

The only tire that seems to hold pressure is the left rear. The left front drops about 15psi per night when it's about -20 or so (-5 or so F), requiring me to freeze regularly filling it daily. The right side tire front and back deflate only slightly overnight. I am stuck leaving this vehicle outside as the garage is occupied.

Anyone else having this problem???????

Should I call the dealer??????

Is it the sensor/stem????

Solved the problem, it was the valve stems afterall! Alll of the stems on the Jeep were extremely loose, so took the Jeep in the garage last night, tightened them and as of today all the tires are maintaining 31 psi! My uncle had the same problem with the valve stems on the Goodyear eagles on his corvette.

Thanks for commenting on the stems ResumeSpeed!

I had no luck calling the dealer, they were so busy that they said 2 weeks before they could even look at my wheels so I was in a hurry to solve it myself as I needed the vehicle.

MommyWagon, where do you live in Calgary? I've drove by a black SRT8 up in the NW by Market Mall a few weeks ago.

Can the stem be tightened from the external nut unly, or does it require the removal of the tire?

If it does, when the Goodyear dealer removes the tire for inspection as per the "Customer Satisfaction" notice, would they do it?

I live in the NW, you probably did see me (or my wife), there is another gentleman that lives near me over in Panorama Estates, who also has a black SRT8 GC.

Are you up here?
