: Eibach Bumpstop problem addressed and FIXED!!
SRTFreak 08-01-2008, 02:48 AM Here is what I did. The factory bumpstops meaning the foam are used and not trimmed in any way shape or form. The stock SRT-8 bumpstop cups are actually made of three pieces that are spot welded together. what I did was grind off all the spot welds, the lower part of the cup containing the retaining tabs of the cup for the bumpstop was set aside and the top that looks like a big flat washer was also set aside. Now I took the washer looking top and spot welded it to the lower cup thus removing the center section which is approx. 2" . I also had to cut the cup bolt that mounts it to the Jeeps frame about .5" and re-installed everything, with the original factory bumpstop, and also the factory spring isolator. this looked like it fixed everything after loweringthe jeep to ground and checking for clearance.
I went for a test drive on a road that know i have already bottomed out on many times and guess what no ISSUES. SOunds and looks just like it did from the factory and when i do hit the stops it very quiet and absorb by the factory bumpstop.
Hope this helps everyone that was concerned about this issue. if you have any questions let me know.

It removes about 1 3/8" when the center cup is removed and I did not find i necessary to cut the bolt.
jrCobra 08-01-2008, 11:51 AM Lol, damn I should have just did this when I had the chance. Guess I'll pull it apart and do it anyways since you guys were brave enough to try it. Someone's got to experiment.

Sorry bro i searched this topic to make sure it was not already done before and this didn't come up. if it did it would saved me some writing. either same solution to solve the problem great work on both parties. Now I will say this i had to trim the bolt because it bottomed out without the spacer piece in place. so it seems as though some may have to and some may not.

Dave with eibach, who is very helpful! Is working on getting a different bumpstop in the next 2 weeks and told me to call him back! I sent him a email with a link to our forum thread about this issue. I'm glad you fixed it!!!! Lets see what Eibach will do for us.....
SRTFreak 08-01-2008, 02:59 PM going to the track tonight to make sure i still have good weight transfer......."cough"bull****"cough" also to try out my new sct tune. should be interesting to say the least. 60 ft time before was in the 1.78-1.81 range stock so as long as i am there i think i will be fine.

Razorecko 08-01-2008, 09:32 PM ^ they should, i'm sure we'd have to pay for shipping at the least

Not with a respectable vendor.
They should have done there research not leave it up to us to fix it for them.
Now that it has gone this far they should do everything to make it right.
No excuses!

Prepare2Win 08-03-2008, 02:47 PM Why did you guys elect to go this route vs. the Energy bumpstop? No welding with that approach, etc. Thx

Just great. Less than a week after I buy the Energy Suspension bumpstops. You say "different bumpstops"...does that mean different cups or just different foam? New foam will not solve the problem.
