I mean when I think of Jeep I think of the awesome Wranglers that have been around forever. Love those things. My parents have one and every time I get a chance I take it for a spin with the top off. That thing is like a Corvette, everyone with a similar Jeep waves at you. It's like a cult. I'm wondering if Dodge or someone else should have picked up the Jeep SRT8 and had their label on it. Just seems that such an awesome piece of performance machinery should have a different label on it. Am I the only one that thinks this way?

Nope! Chrysler line has the 300 SRT and Dodge line has several SRT models and it was only appropriate for the Jeep line to have an SRT vehicle and the only logical choice was the GC. Look what GMC did with the Typhoon and Cyclone back in the day. I love the old 454 Chevy trucks btw. The trucks started getting performance love and now it's the suv's turn! There seems to be a niche market for the performance suv's these days. I for one am glad D-C took a chance and made the GC SRT8 models. These ARE the baddest suv's out there right now! :D

I definitely don't agree.
Just like the viper dominated and STILL DOMINATES ever car remotely close to it, so does the Jeep SRT8. The fact that the viper is a dodge and the SRT8 GC is a jeep is paramount to the equation IMO. It makes them what they are. All of these other manufacturers claim to be so much better, but in the real world, time after time, bone stock the viper and the jeep DOMINATE. Even with the magazine smoke the truth still gets out.
The "jeep" part of the SRT8 is one of the most attractive features IMO.
But on the other hand, I see where you are coming from. if that makes any sense

Sometimes you have to think outside the box bro! Walking sports cars left and right and embarrassing their drivers with a SUV is a great feeling!

I think the Jeep just puts us in a very unique and very elite group of people.
Where not the filthy rich that just throw money at there hobby and get what they want. But we can run with them.
Where not the hard core off roader that some Jeep owners are that see us as an anomaly in the Jeep line. But it's still a Jeep.
It's everything it's not supposed to be, you got to love that about it!
It's the essence of an over achiever!!! Just Like ME! :D
This group is a great, very balanced and down to earth.

I get a lot of Jeep people like Jeep Jeep people the wrangler type that don't know about the SRT8 come up to me at supermarkets and gas stations always asking me questions and comments like, "Did you customize that yourself?" "How much did those rims run you", I'm always humble and tell them its the SRT model and they always exclaim "oo the one with the hemi" and we usually part ways there.

Exactly. It's all the chassis. There was nothing else available in the Mopar line-up. The GC the logical choice because of it's size. The Nitro came out later, but I don't think it's built to handle the power(maybe too small too). It maybe soon the that the next gen Durango/Aspen will be based off the GC, then we will see...
nope, the srt8 continues the fast jeep tradition set by the 5.9 grand cherokee

Good point ZJ V8's didn't have a lot of competition, & the WJ's 4.7L was quick for it's time(no SRT though).
