: HELP...predator turned jeep into paperweight!
Blown-WK 07-30-2008, 09:02 PM I got a new tune revision from BG and I finally decided to install it so I plugged my predator up to the computer and sent the new file to it. Then I went to the jeep and tried to upload the new tune and it went to 100% in the upload and then said turn the ignition off/on and then it said "tune could not be installed". So I unplugged the predator and then rebooted it and put the base file back in it jeep then came back to the computer and clicked on "get tune from predator" and extracted my base file, then sent the new revision to the predator again. Went back to the jeep and tried to upload the new tune again and it went to 100% and I turned the ignition off/on and it kinda set that for a minute with the "service 4wd" light flashing and a clicking sound coming from under the jeep.....then it finally said "tune is now complete and you may drive the vehicle"......but the "service 4wd" light and clicking sound was still happening. I unlugged the predator and tried to start the jeep and nothing happened???? The accessory position works but the starter wont even engage? I tried to put my base file back in the jeep and now the predator wont even connect with it? It says "vehicle could not be recognized". I dont know what to do. I gotta drive to work in the morning and now I have a big paperweight in my driveway
Derwood98 07-30-2008, 09:32 PM Chris,
What revision are you running? I had a similar situation and Andy advised me to install the latest CROM for the Predator and try it again. Worked like a charm. :D
3336jmh 07-30-2008, 09:37 PM Try to get in touch with Mike from bwoody he may be able to help. That sounds like the exact same thing that my truck did one time.
Blown-WK 07-30-2008, 09:38 PM I am on R18 since dave advised me to stick with it. I just downloaded the newest 9R05 and tried to send the file to the predator but it is saying "this predator appears to contain an original backup file. You MUST restore the original backup to your vehicle before you upgrade your predators software (CROM).
Derwood98 07-30-2008, 09:41 PM Chris, make sure you restore your original back up before you try to download the new CROM. Once that is complete, download the new CROM and then send the tune to the Predator. Then install on your Jeep. That should do the trick.
Blown-WK 07-30-2008, 09:45 PM That is what I am trying to do but when I plug the predator into the jeep it says "vehicle can not be recognized" and it says to unplug the predator and try again with the same message everytime????? This sucks
Vinnysrt8 07-30-2008, 09:47 PM good luck wish i could help
Derwood98 07-30-2008, 09:49 PM Are any of the pins bent over? Do you have a DashHawk you can plug in to see if there are any stored codes? Try disconnecting the battery and hitting the brake and reconnecting. Just reaching here, but something in the sequence is not right.
Blown-WK 07-30-2008, 09:52 PM Checked the pins, they are straight. I have an OBII scan tool that wont connect either. Says "link error".
Derwood98 07-30-2008, 09:55 PM Now we are getting somewhere. Try pulling the plug down and make sure all the wires are fully installed in the OBII interface.
GotStroked 07-30-2008, 10:07 PM That is what I am trying to do but when I plug the predator into the jeep it says "vehicle can not be recognized" and it says to unplug the predator and try again with the same message everytime????? This sucks
Probably a dumb suggestion but you did have your key in the "on" position so the pred could read the vehicle correct?
Blown-WK 07-30-2008, 10:18 PM Ok retried the OBII tool and got a message saying "U0100 - lost connection with ECM/PCM"
Blown-WK 07-30-2008, 10:22 PM Probably a dumb suggestion but you did have your key in the "on" position so the pred could read the vehicle correct?
Yes sir....as soon as I do that it gives me the message that it cant connect.
Vinnysrt8 07-31-2008, 08:24 AM so any news yet
Blown-WK 07-31-2008, 09:30 AM Nothing yet. Had to ride the Ducati to work today. Dave said to get in touch with Mike at Diablo and he might be able to get me some kind of rewrite file.
CTS-Veo 07-31-2008, 10:54 AM Chris, this is a little off topic, but is that pic in your avatar your Jeep? I think I've seen it on B&G's website too... If it is, do you have any close up shots of your wheels?
Sorry to hear about the tune problems, I hope you get everything worked out.

CTS-Veo 07-31-2008, 11:05 AM I like that alot! I have also seen a few that where the opposite (the inside of the spokes where painted), but I think this way looks better/stands out more. I would like to get a price quote to get my wheels/BWoody/strut tower painted...
Blown-WK 07-31-2008, 11:42 AM Mike from Diablo says its a problem with running the custom tune on an older CROM file. He says he can get the jeep running over the phone once I get home and can plug the predator back into the jeep.
CentralTexHemi 07-31-2008, 12:28 PM All else fails at least you get to see your baby on TV running down the track tonight

Yeah with my luck that wont happen either. I have my fingers crossed:D
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 07-31-2008, 02:15 PM i have been told that tuning with a low trans fluid level can cause a incomplete or messed up tune install....could check that
