: Black SRT8 Rims

My GC SRT8 is black and I've been thinking about color matching the rims for a while now. I was thinking about getting the stock rims painted black to match the car but leaving the indented SRT letters on each wheel silver to add contrast. Any opinions? Also if anyone could do a photoshop of this it would be greatly appreciated.

You'll want to paint the whole thing (including the letters), then go back and paint the silver in. You don't want any edges on the black paint, if possible.

I think they'd look badass!

What's about a silver one with black rims? Are there any pics?

Hey thanks everybody, I really like both of those pictures of the rims. I think I would go with them all black after seeing that last picture, looks totally badass IMO. Also, around how much do you think it would cost to do this? Maybe this will be a small Christmas present to myself. :D

If I had a black one, I'd go that route for sure. I love the all black stockers.

Those all black rims look nice. Black rims mean less noticeable brake dust.

That's why I thought the SRT8 prototype was better looking simply because it had those awesome 6 spoke black rims. And the black side trim. And the black side skirt. And the standard Jeep GC bumper. I think I'm going to start shopping at the auto wreckers.

Powder coating would be far and away more durable than any paint so atleast consider it before committing yourself.

Prototype. Decent looking wheels. Definitely not feeling the color mixing of the black and red.

Looks NASSTY!!!!! I love it. With the polished lip, I think it would look even better. Then paint the calipers silver!!!!

I'm going to do powder coated 22" replicas when they come out. I think a gun metal or anthracite coal would look good on silver.

Can you buy those black rims somewhere? Or would you just get your stock rims painted/powder coated? I'm curious how that would work since they are chromed.

definitely powder coat them. Paint will not hold up. Here is my viper, powder coated gunmetal with polished lips. Illinois guys can drop their cars off at my shop for a two day turnaround.

One problem with the stock wheels: no real lip that continues completely around the outside edge.

Hey, could one of you photoshop pros slap together a picture of this particular ride (silver w/ black rims) with the 7 slotted grill piece also painted black?

I'd do it myself, but I'm afraid I don't have the Adobe wherewithal to make it look "real".

Thanks!

Hope the photos help. I receive more complements on the wheels than any other part of the truck. About $ 10.00 for the material from Pep Boys.

Thanks Bob the builder! Can he do it yes he can!
No seriously thought, thanks, and what kind of material did you use? I want to chrome the wheels then do the center of each spoke like yours!?

That would be the next level!!!
Sanded the clear coat off the spokes and hubs, sprayed black wheel primer, then black wheel paint. Hey wait...they do BLACK chrome, could they do the spokes in black chrome and the remainder in "normal" chrome?

IMHO.....the black rims go great with any color car....Stance and wheel selection is more important....and on the srt-8 cherokee's, it already has the stance and great wheels. Go BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
