: jeep now sits in garage, undriven :(
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 03:41 PM well I bought my srt8 over a month ago, from MTI motorcars in houston
well basically i STILL don't have a title, never recieved ANY temp plates for it .... pretty pissed off but they are saying that the title was lost in mail from the bank ... either way I can't even drive my jeep, my registration and taxes one it are going to be TERRIBLE since its after 30 days from purchase ... and they won't respond to any email or calls anymore ... apparently they are suppose to have the title today or tomorrow and are goign to overnight it to me
does anyone from houston want to drive to MTI for me and ask them whats going on with it? ha
Mango 07-29-2008, 03:56 PM What the gay is going on here?
Why buy a vehicle from such a shady place?
F-22 RAPTOR 07-29-2008, 03:58 PM Sounds like some shade tree sh@t to me, 30 days and still no title that is pure BS my friend.
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 04:04 PM it seemed like a reputable shop, and said it was the owner of the company's wife's jeep ... i mean i have the jeep its just as they described, but they are being very shady about alot of stuff and idk .... its pissin me off real bad ...

CentralTexHemi 07-29-2008, 04:09 PM Lets all make a call for our buddy
Please contact us Mon - Fri 9am to 6pm CST. Phone # (713) 657 - 0186.
You need to call the place you financed it thru they will have a fit
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 04:12 PM well yeah i'm sure my bank is gonna be on my ass pretty soon because they are suppose to be the leinholder of the title
one thing i was going to try before i assumed too much from this company was call texas DMV and give them my VIN, ask them if they have recreated any titles within the past 30 days for this. this will prove if the title was lost, or it will have them on a search for me if i own a stolen jeep ... (****)
JTSRT 07-29-2008, 04:15 PM well yeah i'm sure my bank is gonna be on my ass pretty soon because they are suppose to be the leinholder of the title

My buddy knows the owner or one of them, I'll see if he'll call and make small conversation about it. What year and color? Where do you live?
MTI is a reputable shop. Used to do lots of work on LS1 an vettes. I think they quit shop work and do mostly resale stuff.

CentralTexHemi 07-29-2008, 04:15 PM There is a guy on here who works for the DA's office in College Station wonder if he knows what to do???

This is why I posted this on here, i'm sure there is someone here that is close to MTI or knows someone there. I have ALWAYS heard good things from friends down south about them (my last car had an ls1) and i know they do good work with the LS1. I see they push alot of vehicles selling now and was never really too worried about getting jipped off by them ...
if you could find out any info on this that would be great ... they also said they would fix a tire that had a screw in it, but never did before they shipped it
my friend from houston test drove it before i paid for it and told me about it ... oh well
i'm from south dakota and its an 06 red srt8
aplatero1984 07-29-2008, 05:11 PM what the Hell!?? I'd say screw it and drive it anyway!?:D
Dr.Steve 07-29-2008, 05:18 PM I'm with mango, what the gay is going on. . . seems screwy :(
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 05:19 PM i was for a while, even got it on the track already ... really sucks he never gave me ANY temp plates for it, and every time he said he "overnighted" some plates to me they never showed up ... i know he has the correct shipping address because they forgot to give me the spare key and that was shipped a week after my jeep arrived
CentralTexHemi 07-29-2008, 05:25 PM something seems fishy
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 05:27 PM proof that i was driving it without plates

:)
if anyone has a contact at MTI dig deep because they won't call me back!
DevssrT 07-29-2008, 05:32 PM Hmmm...somethings def wrong here....
sactownsrt 07-29-2008, 05:34 PM Sounds like they've handled the transaction very sloppily. They should definitely call you back at the very least. I'm in a similiar business and as in any business it is best to keep the lines of communicaation flowing even if the customer is upset. That being said the best thing you can do now is call the Texas DMV and ask for them to open an investigation into the transaction. They love to crawl up dealer butts if the dealer has made a mistake and you will get satisfaction to your situation.
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 05:52 PM well what kills me is this is such a prestige company from what everyone says ... and they have treated me like absolute dirt
CentralTexHemi 07-29-2008, 05:56 PM Well from this to the issues with the Jeep I would not want it anymore. Pinion seals are weak and dont take much to break but there is usally and underlying reason as to what CAUSED it to leak, driveshaft misalignment comes to mind or this is not the first one to be replaced on this Jeep and if you dont torque it to specs it will leak again. Did you get a carfax???
El Jefe 07-29-2008, 05:57 PM Friend of mine used MTI for everything on his Vette. No other shop would touch that car. He would drive from Tucson to Houston just for mods. Ill see if he knows who to talk to. I didnt know they were selling cars. Very reputable from what Ive heard and seen
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 06:05 PM yeah carfax was clean
HoustonSRT-8 07-29-2008, 06:14 PM I know you don't want to hear this, but I heard the other day that MTI was going out of business.
On a side note, when did they branch out from being a performance shop to dealing in used cars?!
HoustonSRT-8 07-29-2008, 06:19 PM well yeah i'm sure my bank is gonna be on my ass pretty soon because they are suppose to be the leinholder of the title
Why? Shouldn't they be the ones hounding MTI for the title? Why is it up to you to get the title to them?
wssexorz 07-29-2008, 06:26 PM maybe i'll call my banker tomorrow have him make some calls
and damn ... going out of business?
Jred22 07-29-2008, 06:32 PM Ride that b!tch till the wheels fall off.
07blksrt8 07-29-2008, 07:52 PM I would suggest that you contact your DMV pronto.
You could have a situation where they (or someone) gets a duplicate title made without paying off a lienholder, and you would be in a world of hurt when that lienholder calls in the loan and repos your truck. It won't hurt to also call you bank, but call DMV first to open a case file....tomorrow.
Good luck.
HoustonSRT-8 07-29-2008, 08:08 PM and damn ... going out of business?
For your sake, I hope I'm wrong.
JTSRT 07-29-2008, 08:51 PM Hey bro, I left my friend a message - he'll get back to me one way or another and see what's going on. Hopefully we can find out something. I wouldn't mind driving over there but I don't know them or how well they would take to a stranger asking what's up with a title for a jeep they sold...If nothing else works, I'll make a trip bro.
JT
JTSRT 07-29-2008, 08:52 PM For your sake, I hope I'm wrong.
I actually heard the same thing. They are no longer doing mods or dyno tuning except a select few cars and are getting into selling cars. Not sure if they buy - mod - sell or what but apparently the field is getting saturated.
wssexorz 07-30-2008, 09:03 AM yeah they are announcing on friday that they are going to just buying/selling cars i guess

I'm a member there I posted this link on that site hopefully he will respond, if what you say is true there is NO excuse for not talking to you regardless of what their situation is at work.
CentralTexHemi 07-30-2008, 09:53 AM Well one of the admins closded the thread and removed the link but suggested I PM the guy since he is a vendor/tech on there so I did with a link to here hopefully he will respond and this will get worked out soon
wssexorz 07-30-2008, 10:02 AM ls1tech didn't like that idea very much.
El Jefe 07-30-2008, 11:36 AM Why would they stop modding cars and go into retail in this market? Seems like a horrible idea, or they arent telling us thw whole story
wssexorz 07-30-2008, 02:28 PM so these temp plates, that were "sent" to me 2 weeks ago over night, arrived today ... should i feel safe putting these on my jeep even though i purchased it like 35 days ago??

wssexorz 07-30-2008, 02:48 PM just recieved a call from David at MTI, sounds like he is willing to do anything to keep me happy ... i was afraid everything i heard about MTI being a great business was not true, but i feel a little different now. he is also calling my bank right now to explain the situation to them ... lets just hope i get this title soon
CentralTexHemi 07-30-2008, 03:37 PM Good deal I figured this would get resolved without jumping to conclusions or bashing David and MTI just wanted to make sure a fellow member was being taken care of.
wssexorz 07-30-2008, 03:48 PM werd!!
maybe i'll take the jeep for a spin tonight, just because i can and i haven't driven it for a whole week now
hahaha

The little white boxes kind of need a date filled in on them. :indifferent:
wssexorz 07-30-2008, 10:39 PM hahaha i filled in the date
wssexorz 08-08-2008, 10:38 AM update:
I have recieved the title, I have registered and paid taxes for the jeep ... David at MTI offered to write a check for the exact amount of fees that south dakota tacked on me ... it all has worked out :woot:
Grip Grip 08-08-2008, 11:03 AM Congratualtion! You can now officially, legally drive your Jeep!! :)
wssexorz 09-26-2008, 02:22 PM still haven't seen reimbursment from David at MTI like he had promised. Last I heard he DHL'd a check to me to reimburse for fees SD knocked on me for not registering it right away .... but then the hurricane hit so he couldn't get me a tracking number? dammit
