Has anyone taken their stock cats to a junk yard or scrap yard and sold them for anything?

I heard of some robbers getting under peoples cars and cutting the cats off in the middle of the night and taking them to the scrap yard for money. Is the material worth anything? Thanks guys

Turns out it is platinum inside these cats and platinum is worth a pretty penny. Might have to give the junk yard a call.

You may want to keep them just in case you have to reinstall them. Just food for thought.

Well I dont plan on re installing. If anything I will get cats for my headers, not reinstall stock manifolds and stock pipes

If they're getting that kind of money for them, why not just buy them new and scrap them. They can't be scrapping them for more they cost retail, could they?

If I ever get caught without cats I may try saying that someone stole them. In the meantime, $90 a pair might be worthwhile to get the things out of my garage.

If any of you guys wanna sell those old cats for $90 a pair I will take them NOW!!! I have a guy that pays $150-180 for cats. The platinum inside the cats is very very valuable. Platinum right now goes for about $2000 an ounce.

The price varies with each cat. The scrap yard that I go to pays between 30-150 for them. I think bigger truck cats where worth more, but it's not just based on size. But I've seen my share of crackheads at the scrap yard... One guy stole the lid to an aluminum pan that wasn't even a pound and was pissed as hell when they told him it wasn't worth any money. He thought he was gonna be RICH lol.
