So, I ordered a brand new 07' Black SRT8, all options, about 2 weeks ago. I was told then by my salesman that I would pick up my truck today (November 21st, 2006) so I plan ahead for this. My dad was flying home to be here for our reception of the truck, and to take pictures. He scheduled time off from work, I scheduled time off....we had an entire day planned around this truck. For us, it's a big deal for me to afford such an amazing vehicle. Anyway, I call yesterday to double check that everything is in place and my salesman informs me that Chrysler is NOT shipping my truck. In fact, it's sitting at the factory awaiting transport. Why?

Well Chrysler sees it fit to wait for enough Jeep SRT8's to be built to fill up a car carrier. They MIGHT ship my truck some time in the next 10 days, but they can't tell me for sure.

I am so furious right now you can't imagine. Why the hell is Chrysler playing these games now? My dad wasted money on an airline ticket, I've wasted a personal day, he's wasted a personal day.....

Sorry to rant but I've never heard of someone being jerked around like this...

I'm so pissed off it's to the point that I almost don't want the truck anymore. Thanks for nothing Chrysler Corporation.

Sounds like you should be blaming your dealer, not Chrysler for telling you delivery would be November 21st.

Once built, vehicles can sit at transport for up to 2 weeks. They as you said will wait to ship vehicles until a carrier is filled, makes sense.

Agreed. Most dealers have NO IDEA when a vehicle will arrive. They can usually tell you once a carrier has left but not when it will actually show up. In hindsight, you should have called the dealer on Friday/Monday to make sure it was still coming the 21st. It sucks, but this shouldn't make you not want the vehicle. it should make you take your DCX business to another dealer. I'd take all my anger out on that dealer and try to get free oil changes and all kinds of other stuff for the hassle.

Was the vehicle special ordered by the dealer from the factory, or did the dealer find one "to order" from another dealer? If this was a factory order there is absolutely NO WAY that you could order one and receive it within two weeks, in fact not anywhere close to that, more like 2-3 months and that is IF the dealer had allocation.

Did you really expect that you would get this vehicle two weeks after you ordered it?

By the way, Chrysler does NOT "wait" until they have enough builds of one model to fill a truck, is that what they told you? Vehicles are shipped with all kinds of other different vehicles, going to different dealers etc.

Do you even know if the truck has been built yet? If you want to PM me the last 5 digits of the VIN I will check for you.

Check with your dealer every week. Not checking with your dealer until the day before the EDA is asking for trouble. My EDA changed four times, which is common with these vehicles.

Resume, how do you check?
I "work" with Mr. M, we have some good contacts at the plant and can check and verify completed builds from an inventory supply list. No way though to check status ahead of the actual build date.

Dito for me on whats been posted so far. It tookover 3 months to get my '07 delivered. It sounds like you're dealing with an inexperienced salesman or the dealership just doesn't care. I called one of the owners of the dealership I bought mine from weekly at times to keep up on the ship date. And I was told there was no way they could know for sure when it would ship. The best they could do was keep looking to see if production had been completed and then call me when it was rolling off the truck and that's exactly what happened. You may want to find out if this dealership has much experience selling the SRT8. They may just not be aware of the high demand for this vehicle and what's involved to actually get one to their lot. I visited two other dealers in my area that had no clue what a Jeep SRT8 was much less how to get one to their lot. I actually had a female salesperson at one of them ask me if I needed help and when I told her I was looking for a Jeep SRT8 she actually asked "well are you looking for a V8 or a V6?" When I told her it only came with a V8 she yelled to her sales manager "Hey do you know anything about a STR......what was it again? I rolled my eyes and just walked out. I was even told by one dealership that their sales volume wasn't high enough yet to be able to even get an SRT8 on their lot. So it sounds to me like the dealership is clueless here not DC. Be patient though, it'll all be worth it when you drive it off the lot and mash the pedal to the floor for the first time! :)

Thank you for the replies everyone. I know I sounded very angry in that first post, and for good reason. However, I now understand how this process works. You must understand where I'm coming from....I've never purchased a vehicle like this before. In the past, I leased and would simply take what was on the lot and I could get the best price for.

This dealership seems to be inexperienced in dealing with SRT vehicles. They've sold a few Jeep SRT8's and some 300C SRT8's, but obviously not enough to know what to tell me as far as build dates go. I do know that it's been built, and I do know that it's waiting at the factory lot to be loaded.

This truck I purchased was a fully loaded 2007 for the DEALER. It had been in the build queue for months, which is how I purchased it. Now all I can do is hope it arrives some time in the next 10 days.

I thought it sounded very odd that they would wait to fill a carrier with strictly SRT8's....why not load it with the usual shipment? I hope they do.

It will come with any other vehicles slated for delivery to that dealer and any other dealers on that carrier's route. But the thing that gets me is when the dealer will tell you that the carrier left on Friday and that it will be at the dealer's lot sometime in the next 2 weeks. And they won't have any clue how to track it. They only know when it shows up.

i think you should definately blame the dumb ass dealer for blowing smoke up your ass. i oredered my 07 in the begining of october; i might get it at the end of the month...that's at least o month earlier than what my dealer told me. i think the guy was hosing you so you would by from him.

I think that's your whole problem. Let me explain to you what happened to me and maybe it will help you out. The first one my dealership reveived was Silver. I test drove it but didn't really want silver. I was told they were scheduled to receive two more 2006's both in black one of them with the NAV. Just like the one you put dibs on they were both scheduled for production for the Dealer. So I gave my dealer money to hold the one I wanted when it came in. Neither one of them ever showed up on the lot. The owner of the dealership told me that they had no way to guarantee that one of these would ever make it to their lot given the high demand on the vehicle. He never came out and said it but I got the impression the vehicles that were destined for his lot were swiped by another dealership somewhere else. So after several months of waiting he decided to make things right and he ordered an '07 for me with all of the options I wanted. It took a little over 3 months but it arrived with my name on it, so to speak. I would just go to your dealer give them a down payment and order what you want. It may save you a lot of headaches.

I did give them a down payment....I paid CASH for the entire truck. Well, bank transfer but I paid for it in FULL.

I think the whole issue was the salesman, being inexperienced in selling SRT8's, giving me wrong information. I will do my best to be patient and wait for it to come.

It's oh so very hard! :D  :p

I have been waiting since Nov 4 (build date). I don't know what is going on but they are telling me that there is some sort of quality hold on the truck anyone know what the heck that is about. They keep promising me it will be this week and the weeks are going by and no truck yet. I called today telling them I am fed up and don't want the truck anymore. Maybe that was not the right thing to do but I am losing it.............I want my truck ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!:( :( :(
