Guys,

Car rookie here. The Check Engine light just came on my 2006 SRT8. I seem to have a few of the issues mentioned in this thread including the burning smell and a rough gear shifts during acceleration. I also just had an oil change done at the dealer and these problems seemed to start after the oil change.

Has anyone else seen this? Anything I need to tell the dealer about specific TSBs, etc?

First check should be your gas cap. A loose gas cap can trigger the check engine light. If so, tighten it to 3 clicks, the light should turn off after a few short trips. I hope this is it. If not, you may need to get it checked out.

Continue to drive the vehicle. If, after three separate trips, and 50-100 miles, the light continues to show, then take it to the dealer.

Autozone offers a free Trouble Code Scan, see what code shows. My daughter's Sebring Conv did the same but old dad clear'd the code? A load of bad gas did it, probably a slow O2 sensor. Try some different gas first or other items posted above. HTH Gene
