: update on cobrakid's jeep situation.
cobrakid 07-21-2008, 10:15 AM hey guys, simply started a new thread.
I have at least one piston not looking good, so I have decided to remove
and reinstall a motor somehow.
Visa upped me a little bit, and I am waiting to hear from bank.
pass side had 1 closed plug, and the throttle body is ruined, the
plate is blown crooked.
I am not going to try to get one over on Chrysler, as it was my fault plain and simple......also if
I tried and they voided my warranty and could
probably force me to buy truck before I am ready.
The outpouring of members here both publicly and PMd is
simply incredible.
My wife was truly impressed also.
Quick question, before I pull everything all apart any further.....
what are the odds the heads aren't hurt at all?
I am trying to decide between and e-bay pull out, a built shortblock, or anything else I can figure out
to get this done as quickly as possible.
I have a buddy that is going to remove and re-install for
about $400.
Getting this motor rebuilt is just too time consuming around here, and would be bound to go over budget.
Any thoughts?
AND AGAIN thanks to everybody who has offered to help in various ways.
sincerely,
Chuck/cobrakid N/A racer from here on out LOL.
Blown7 07-21-2008, 10:21 AM what are the odds the heads aren't hurt at all?
Chuck/cobrakid N/A racer from here on out LOL.
The heads are probably junk also..........
I wouldn't reinstall them with overhauling them.

If I knew anything about this truck other than how to stomp on the accelerator, I'd offer my services, but for now, all I can offer is my best wishes. I imagine, i'm not too far behind you.
cobrakid 07-29-2008, 06:39 AM Bwoody let me use a video scope (thanks alot) and I saw at least 2 pistons damaged.
Builder Bill sent me a brand new coil cover, and valve cover and really hooked me up.
Other members have offered me helpful stuff too, and honestly is is very touching.
All this from a website that we all BS on. It is hard to explain to your regular friends, and parents
how deep the appreciation for Jeeps go, on this site.
Inertia (Stu) is giving me a complete set of take out stock rods and pistons.
I bought a cam and install kit from him, and we are going to start pulling things
apart this coming weekend.
NITROUS is off the Jeep.
I removed for my family, in-laws etc. Because I look and feel like a dumb-azz in everyones eyes now.
I miss my Jeep.
I will update you guys as I get things done.
I expect to be totally on the road again as normal in about 2-3 weeks.
Like I said it is hard to get stuff done around my slower lower DE area.
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING and ALL OF THE SUPPORT.
I will be writing a new book soon, "How to go from a low buck hero, to a blown up zero faster than you can turn a key." LOL
